Activity and Hiatuses

ACTIVITY
Edit
What is expected of me?
Edit
Each character is expected to make a minimum of two (2) journal entries per month.
If you've been on hiatus for fourteen (14) days or more during the month, one entry is excusable. Characters introduced into the game after the fifteenth (15th) of a month are excused from the activity check for that month.
What do the mods and helpers do during the check?
Edit
Characters are divided up into alphabetical groups (A-E, F-J, etc) and each mod does a section by checking tags. This is why it is very important that you tag your own entries. Any character that has not made two posts to the main community or log community is put on the Sweep List. We check the hiatus post and remove anyone who may be exempt from it.
When are activity checks performed?
Edit
Activity checks are run at the end of every month. The Sweep List is usually posted in the first week of the next month, time allowing, and muns have a few days to reply to the check.
What if my character didn’t make two entries?
Edit
If characters do not meet the two required journal entries per month, they may also make up for it with a 3rd person RP log posted in the Paradisa Logs community. Each log posted is worth the same as one journal entry for each character involved.
Another way to meet your monthly activity is with comment threads done in other characters journal entries. Since all comment threads differ from level of interaction to content itself, simply provide the moderators and helpers anything you want counted toward your activity in the month in question. With the links you provide us we will determine if it is enough to count toward continuing your active status.
It is your responsibility to reply to the Sweep List and ensure that the mods and helpers know that your character has done threads outside their own entries, and to correct any errors made (missed posts, logs, hiatuses, etc.)
I lost my character. Can I have them back?
Edit
You may reapply for the character, however, as a consequence, all of their history in Paradisa, CR and progress will be cleared. You will be expected to restart the character.
HIATUSES
Edit
What is a hiatus?
Edit
A hiatus is a break from roleplaying, typically when one either cannot access or is too busy to participate Paradisa. Similarly, there are semi-hiatuses, where one will be around but scarce.
It is a mun’s responsibility to inform the mods of a hiatus. Otherwise, their hiatus will not excuse characters from the activity check. Please also note that a hiatus that only covers part of a month leaves plenty of time to make two posts; it may not exempt you completely.
Inform the mods of your hiatus by posting here. If there is no comment there, the hiatus is not official.
How long can I be away?
Edit
There are no such things as “indefinite” hiatuses in Paradisa. We feel this is character-squatting, and unfair to people who might want to play the character, play with the character, or have a cast that depends on the character. If you are going to be on a long hiatus, we advise you simply drop any major or popular characters, in the interest of keeping things moving smoothly.
We ask that regardless of circumstances, if you must be away for longer than a month or two, that you drop. It’s only fair for other people interested in playing the character, and you can always pick them up again if they are still free when you get back.
We do not accept vague dates for hiatus requests either. Hiatus requests need to have at the very least 'end of the month' or 'beginning of next month' stated. Vague dates are in our opinion the same as requesting an indefinite hiatus, and as previously stated those do not exist in Paradisa.
If you are returning to Paradisa off of a hiatus that has extended longer than you anticipated, please contact a moderator before you return to the game. This is to ensure that you have cleared all outstanding missing activity with them, and they are aware of what situation stopped you from extending your hiatus.
If you have not been able to make your activity due to real life circumstances that could not be foreseen enough to request a hiatus, it is your responsibility to contact a moderator before the end of the month or before the activity check is posted. We ask that you do it before these dates to prove that you are self-aware of your lack of activity, and not seeing it show up on the list. Talk to a moderator and explain your situation and we will make the proper adjustments.
