Code of Conduct and Application Rules

Contents

CODE OF CONDUCT Edit

  • Be polite to fellow players. Remember that this is a game.
  • While it is just a game, remember the sports analogy; if you don’t show up you’ll get kicked off the team.
  • No godmoding, or “controlling other people's characters”. Offenders will be warned, and banned if it persists.
  • Don't tell people what they should do with their characters. Suggest, rather than demand.
  • Stay in character. While we will warn first and allow time to improve, persistent OOC behaviour might result in characters being taken away from you.
  • Relationships of any gender pairing are accepted and encouraged as long as they remain in character.
  • Canon is to be respected at all times. If your character has a canon romance or friendship, you are expected to acknowledge that relationship.

APPLICATION RULES Edit

  • There is a character limit of eight per person.
  • When applying for a character, you must have a valid, working email address. If your application is missing a valid email, you will be declined.
  • Please apply with your personal journal. We do not allow the use of puppet journals. You must apply AS YOURSELF. Presenting yourself as someone else is a bannable offense.
  • Do not use samples from AU settings in your application. Use samples from canon scenarios.
  • Characters from any fandom are acceptable, from any form of media. If you're really unsure about something, please contact a mod.
  • Alternate-universe duplicates of characters will be allowed if there is a significant difference between the characters. If you have any doubts, please email the mods.
  • And as a note for anyone applying: Please do not panic or worry if you find that your application has been skipped over. We have several mods and helpers, and not all of them know all the canons of each section, so they will often skip over the ones they don't know. If there is a few days of delay after the application has been skipped, it's likely someone has been picked to research the canon in order to properly judge the app, or the staff is discussing some portion of the app in more detail before reaching a decision. If it's been more than a week, though, please let us know so we can take care of it. In short - DON'T WORRY, we don't hate you, we just have to do a little extra work for your app.

Off-limits Characters Edit

Paradisa does not allow the following:

  • Characters who do not appear in canon.
  • Characters whose canon does not exist yet (ie; unreleased video games)
  • Real/Historical people (unless applied within the context of a fictional work's canon)
  • Characters from myths or legends (unless applied within the context of a fictional work's canon)
  • Original characters.

What about characters who have no canon name? Edit

A lack of a name tends to indicate that the character isn't significant enough to warrant one, however, there are exceptions to the rule.

On rare occasions, for some bizarre reason, significant characters don't get canon names. As an example, this is the case in games where one gets to name the main character and aren't offered a default name. Other times it's simply a case of a missing first or last name.

However, first we suggest that you exhaust all resources trying to find out a name. Sometimes, as in the example offered above, the character has a name in another media; Main Character from Persona 3 is actually Arisato Minato, in the manga. Sometimes fandom has a chosen name for this character; a popular first name for President Shinra in the Final Fantasy VII is "Jack".

One option is to have the character's loss be "their name, and incapable of learning it". If you MUST make up a name for a character, please make sure it suits the character.

Character Limit Per Fandom Edit

While we have no official limitations on how many characters per fandom one is allowed to play, we suggest applicants really consider what kind of impact this may have on their own playing. If characters are expected to talk to each other and interact closely, we recommend you avoid picking the second character up and instead search for someone else who would be interested in playing, simply in the interest of avoiding "interaction with yourself" or playing off of yourself.

Using PBs Edit

If your character comes from a book (specifically one that hasn't been made into a movie, or hasn't appeared in said movie) you may have to use a PB. There's no particular rule to what PBs can or can't be used, but we really suggest one chooses something that will fit. We advise using real people, unless you can find enough consistent fan art for icons.

In cases where a character does not appear enough to make enough icons, or scans of their actual pictures aren't available, we will also allow a PB. Likewise goes for temporary losses.

We suggest using [Hollow_Art] for icons for PBs. You can search their site by hair, race, gender, etc to find one that suits, and it has lots to choose from.
