Dropped in a strange place, he was found by some nice people and some really freaky people who all live in a place called Paradisa with other nice and freaky people. But creepy stuff happens in Paradisa. It's up to Courage to not suffer a complete nervous breakdown!

The inexplicably pink dog of no specified breed that serves as the titular character of the show, Courage is a high-strung canine that spends his days saving his owners from the supernatural, the creepy and the just plain weird. Loyal, loving and almost unbearably adorable, Courage means nothing but well. Nevertheless, his being a most triumphant example of a fraidy cat dog, he responds to anything even remotely frightening with a blood-curdling scream. Despite his abhorrence of the weird and scary, he’ll brave them if necessary to protect those he cares about. He values Muriel’s—Courage’s sweet, naïve owner—well-being over his own. Always. He’s willing to take quite a beating to do it too and will just laugh afterward as if he was slapped silly (which he just might have been).
Although the “coward” part of his personality is delineated even in the title of the show, Courage is not a coward when push comes to shove. Although usually terrified out of his wits, he will brave dangers head-on. Incredibly bright as well, he doesn’t resort to beating the crap out of the bad guys as his default go-to plan. Instead, he outsmarts them and, in some cases, even befriends them.
Abandoned as a puppy after an evil vet sent his parents into space, Muriel found him and named him “Courage”. And it’s this name he proves time and time again. He’s faced mummies, ducks from space and a serial barber who speaks in rhyme. And yet he never gives up, never stops trying and always restores peace and calm to the Bagge farm again. Unfortunately for Courage, he is typically the only one who notices the strange going-ons.
Despite it all, he has a wonderful sense of humor. He is also easily entertained. He’s happy playing with a yo-yo or lying on Muriel’s lap while she sits on her rocker. Although easily intimidated, he’s quick to make friends and is helpful and kind.

As a cartoon character in a black comedy cartoon, Courage has quite a few tricks up his sleeve.
Hammerspace: He has a pocket that is actually part of his skin. Out of this he has pulled yachts and full-grown whales. Oh yeah.
Scream: After so much practice screaming, it's actually a weapon. He's used it to defeat entire group of bad guys, shattering the floor underneath them.
Strength: As he's usually seen carrying his stout human owner around and he's able to pull the aforementioned yachts and whales out of his pocket, he's a lot stronger than he seems.
Shape-shifting: Although typically used to try to explain what's going on, he's used it before to escape traps and such. He can become practically anything as long as it's funny.
