Background
Edit
Elektra has always been pushed to be the best by her father. While her mother feared it might be extreme, she allowed it occur despite her young age. This changed after Elektra's mother was murdered. Young Elektra had the misfortune of watching the murder and later the murderer flee the scene. After that, her life went downhill. She trained almost constantly. Her father pushed her hard determined to make sure she would never become a 'victim' like her mother. While it was out of love, it was very hard on Elektra. She grew up isolated from other people and overprotected.
Her life changed when she met Matt Murdock, a blind attorney, who she would later discover was the famous Daredevil of Hell's Kitchen. They shared a very brief, but passionate love affair. He got her to open up and she found herself truly happy for the first time since her mother's death. Sadly, her father had gotten in with Kingpin, the head of all crime in New York, and a hit was put out on both him and Elektra. An assassin named Bullseye came after them and despite Daredevil's efforts, was able to impale her father before Elektra's eyes. Elektra misunderstood the situation and blamed Daredevil for her father's death.
She rejected Matt after that and focused solely on revenge. Eventually she chased down Daredevil and nearly killed him. Before she gave a finishing blow, Elektra removed his mask and discovered Matt beneath. After making a tearful apology, Bullseye appeared to kill Elektra. The woman went to fight him before he could discover an injured Daredevil. She sadly lost the fight and was impaled with her own Sai. Elektra died in Matt's arms as he begged her to stay with him and watched her heart take its final beat.
Elektra did not stay dead though. Her former teacher, a blind man named Stick, revived Elektra. She left New York with him but, not before leaving Matt a necklace to hint at her revival. She spent an unspecified time after that training in Stick's school in the Way of Kimagure (where she learned ability to control time, life and death). Stick eventually kicked her out despite being his strongest student because of her anger and hatred. After that, she took up life as an assassin. She continued this way for a long while, further diving into darkness until she met Abby Miller and her father during a trip to kill an unspecified person. Abby all but, pushed herself onto Elektra who she admired for her strength. As Elektra warmed to the girl, as slight as it was, she discovered they were her targets to kill. She tries to kill the father and daughter but, was unable to. Instead, she ends up protecting them from the Hand who she assumes ordered the hit against them.
Later she would discover that Abby was the legendary Treasure: a protege destined to tip the scales of good and evil from Stick who she had sought help from. They were not trying to kill them, but rather capture Abby to give the Hand the upper hand in the war against followers of the Kimagure. Elektra took it upon herself to protect Abby from the Hand. They closer they grew, the more Elektra could see Abby in herself. It did not take long for her to see how the young girl was suffering being caught in the middle of the warring factions.
Elektra decided to end the war on her own terms by killing the leader of the men after Abby, the son of the true leader of the Hand. During the battle, he preyed on her emotions, causing her to remember her mother was in fact murdered by him. Elektra lost her objectivity, giving her opponent the upperhand. Before Elektra could lose though, Abby intervened and they escaped together. They did not get far before the entire team was after them. Elektra took them out one by one but, was separated from Abby during the fighting. Once she got to their leader, she nearly lost again, but something the man said awoke once more her memory of her mother's death. In a rage she stabbed him through the chest and dumped him into a well.
Elektra eventually found the girl dead by the hand of a former Treasure who was part of the team to capture her. In desperation, Elektra ran back to her childhood home and placed Abby on the bed where her mother died. She followed the technique used to revive her. Thankfully it worked and Abby was saved. The next day, Elektra went to leave her childhood home after a tearful goodbye with Abby. Elektra thanked Abby for saving her and promised they would meet again. Before she made it out the gate she had a brief chat with Stick where he reaffirmed his belief in the good in Elektra and bickered playfully with her.
In the final scene, you see Elektra walking away from her childhood home smiling. She is freed from her anger and hatred. It is assumed she is heading to keep her promise to Matt she made in a dream to return to him when she is ready.
Relationships in canon
Edit
Matt Murdock aka Daredevil (is now in Paradisa): Her first love, very likely her first real friend. Though their time together was brief each of them was changed deeply by it. She left him a brail necklace after her death to hint at her revival. Elektra intends to return to him now that everything has settled.
Recently Matt has joined Elektra in Paradisa. At the moment they are mending their relationship and trying to get by in this crazy castle. Their feelings for each other have not changed however.
Abby Miller: A young girl whom Elektra saved. As Elektra put it though, she saved her as well. It was thanks to her experience with Abby she was finally able to start letting go of her anger and hatred caused by losing both of her parents and see the good in herself.
Mark Miller: Abby's dedicated and loving father. He developed a one-sided crush on Elektra and kissed her once. Although Elektra kissed him as well before she left the father and daughter she harbors no romantic feelings for him.
McCabe: Her agent during her time as an assassin. While Elektra was less than friendly to him it was clear he cared a lot about her. He actively questioned her when she murdered people unrelated to the hits he would send her on. When her conscious kicked in, he supported her efforts to protect the Millers (after complaining about it). He was beheaded by Kirigi after betting a thousand dollars Elektra would kill him. Kirigi owes him a thousand dollars.
Nickolas Natachios: He pushed Elektra to be strong her entire life especially after her mother's death. While he could be harsh about it, there is no doubt he deeply loved his daughter.
Elektra's mother (unnamed in the movie; Christina Natachios in the comics): A loving mother but, weak willed. She knew her husband should not push their young daughter so hard to be strong but, allowed it anyways. She was a source of comfort for Elektra until her death.
Stick: A guiding force for Elektra as well as a source of frustration for her. After her death, he is the one who protected her body from being stolen and revived her. Although they bicker, it's clear they care for each other as master and student. It is Stick who sets Elektra up to meet Abby and ultimately realize she was not evil.
Relationships in Paradisa
Edit
Ukitake Jyuushiro: A strange death god who has insisted they were friends since the moment she saved him from books. His incredible kindness and belief in her is a source of confusion and peace for Elektra. They are incredibly close friends; he has become something of a surrogate mother to her. He is the only one Elektra entrusts with full knowledge of her past. At times, Elektra even shares with him her fear of herself and losing those around her. Needless to say she is very protective of him and loves him as if he truly was her mother ignore the fact he is a man.
Peter Petrelli: A 'hero' who reminds her of Matt and another person who believes they are friends. Elektra appreciates his company and to some extent she even trusts him. He was the first person she met upon arrival and the first person to gain knowledge of Daredevil. He has the honor of being one of the few she admitted being friends with albeit awkwardly. Although she refuses to admit it, she worries about him often. A part of her fears he may end up dying in his attempts to play hero and makes it a point to try getting involved in these attempts in order to protect him.
Lance Sweets: A psychologist Elektra met in Los Angeles. She doesn't entirely trust him due to his profession but, has nothing against him.
Ken Ichijouji: A sweet kid who works at the candy shop. Like Ukitake, he confuses her with his unwarranted kindness towards her. They currently share an inside joke about the fact she refuses to acknowledge they are friends but, always shows up whenever he may be in danger. One day she will admit they are friends. One day.
Oliver Queen (Smallville): A coincidental friend who is among the heroes she always ends up befriending by mistake. They share a great deal of chance meetings and a friendship has blossomed from it. They tease each other on a regular basis but, there is a level of trust between them. During a castle event they shared a child together and Oliver came to rescue her during the Riful plot. Elektra considers them friends (but has yet to really admit it) and openly admits she would have stayed in a family with him if their child had not departed.
- A.J Crowley: One of the fellow captives in the Riful plot. She picks him on him constantly but, privately finds him to be entertaining. *member of Failtastic Six
- Wade "Deadpool" Wilson: An annoyance with a good heart. She tried rather unsuccessfully to protect him during the Riful plot by lying about joining her side. During their meetings afterward she has developed something of a soft spot for him since he tried to reassure her during a loss where she forgot who she was.
- Morris: Sweet guy. Bad place to meet said sweet guy. Elektra tried to protect him by subtly coaching him into offering Riful what she wanted. Mixed results ensued.
- Teresa: The other woman in the basement. Elektra liked her enough to offer her help should Riful ever prove an issue again.
- Julian: Bratty kid but, useful. Elektra likes him enough to give him a lecture about considering joining Riful to save his life and speaks with him occassionally. She thinks of him as a male version of Abby and tries to help him when she can.
Riful: Doesn't care about her enough to hate her for kidnapping and torturing her for five days. In fact, she's completely indifferent to her. If she does anything to her group of people that will quickly change however.
Priscilla: Riful's enemy...and someone Elektra actually likes. Like Abby, she sees a lot of herself in her. Despite knowing she could be a monster, Elektra reassured Priscilla that they could still talk (her code that they can be friends). She has departed Paradisa after the events of the Beserk plot where she narrowly avoided killing Elektra more than once.
Xena: A fellow warrior from Greece whom Elektra likes. They have the same mindset and issues regarding people. If you didn't know any better, you would think they were long lost sisters.
Abel Nightroad: Elektra's oddball surrogate brother. At first Elektra hated him. She viewed him as a useless idiot who took advantage of Ukitake. As time passed (and Abel refused to stop pestering her), she started to open up to him. Through their talks they have both realized they have a lot in common. This earned some trust since she finally found someone who understood her somewhat. Elektra gave him some knowledge over her past (her feelings for Matt and her fondest memory of her parents) under the excuse of having someone else to carry the knowledge should the castle mess with her memory again. Her trust in Abel isn't perfect but, it's clear she cares for him in her own way.
Charlie/Question/Q/whatever his name: Walks a fine line between wanting to give him a chance because he is close to Ukitake (and Deadpool who is becoming someone she really likes) and wanting to kill him for hurting Ukitake during the Beserk plot. Needless to say if he messes up and someone she cares about gets hurt, he's dead. Newly found conscious be damned.
