Abnormality Description
Edit
James's ability is simple to say, but in practice isn't as obvious as one may think it to be. Enhanced intelligence, brings to mind those super powered geniuses of comic lore and such no? Well that is exactly what it did to James, enhanced his already genius mind to something more. How it did so is never made clear in cannon, besides the cause being the Source blood, as James when seen before injecting it was already possesed of a genius mind, though an exponential raise in his IQ is apparent.
It is implied however that not only did it well make him more of a genius but it also made his thinking more effecient. Faster thoughts allowed him to process information quicker, and come to conclusions that much sooner then anyone else. He also has the ability to control those thoughts as well, which enables him to think on a scale that not many others can, for instance in discovering the hall of records in the destroyed city of Bhalasaam, once he found the correct markers he quickly adjusted for the changing patterns of a growing city and found it, amongst heaps of rubble and with just a centuries old map, using time as the key that the others couldn't grasp. As such his thoughts run very fast compared to the average person, and not always focused on a single thing.
Apppearance
Edit
Coming as soon as Knight sits down to write it up!
Personality
Edit
Raided from his application, will be made to well flow better later
James is a passionate individual, once he gets interested in something he puts his considerable intellect into learning about it, soaking up details that the average person would miss. A detective and scientist to the core, he always questions things, even those things that his friends, even those amongst the Five, the group that had grown together and experimented with Source blood and so much more, tell him. The one time he didn't was the time he was betrayed by a dear friend, namely the Jack the Ripper case in his time frame and discovering the man was in fact his close friend John Druitt. That passion of his? Leads also to amazing grudges, he held onto the grudge with Druitt for close to a century, even though he always strove to be as civil as possible when around others with him, only taking it out on Druitt at the time when alone, namely when in Bhalasam looking for the Source blood and when Druitt tortured him during World War Two. He's a touch bit arrogant because of his intelligence, but when your name amongst your friends is synonomous with Sherlock Holmes well, he has every right to be, though it has been toned down some sense Druitt was revealed to be Jack the Ripper, he knows he isn't infalible now. His curiosity led him to working with Abnormals, and heading the UK Sanctuary, something which he did with quite a bit of love and care in his job, as he did enjoy it.
He is however very conservative in certain views of things, namely stemming from his origins in Victorian England. More tried and true things are more likely to be used instead of something much faster but also newer, he prefers telegrams over email for example and much prefers a longer path to a solution over a quicker one, especially when it comes to science. If pushed he will buckle down however and use a less tried and true route, and while he won't voice his dislike of it in true Victorian fashion, he will make sure its known, mostly with disapproving looks and being much more stiff then usual. Hiding things, like pain or even the fact that he could or would eventually die because his exobrace was failing for one last hurrah or because the world is about to end if he doesn't help, are also a part of that upbringing.
Around his friends he's much more relaxed, making dry quips about situations and just laughing off certain things. Like the shock at his genius intellect, or the well, screw up of his German not sounding Bavarian. He can be quite the jolly man really when relaxed and the world isn't falling down around his ears, though again he keeps personel information, such as pain, to himself. He doesn't like to distract his allies or friends with such trivial things as his own pain or failing mechanical device, its not worth it to him, and he knows that a distraction such as that could very easily jeopardize a mission.

- Attended Oxford for a medical degree
- While attending Oxford, joined a group called the Five, consisting of Helen Magnus, Nikola Tesla, John Druitt and Nigel Griffin who experimented with a vial of pure Sanguine Vampiris or rather his world's version of vampire, blood, found by Gregory Magnus, Helen's father
- Met Adam Worth
- Injected the Source blood, the pure vampire blood, along with other members of the Five, his intelligence was enhanced
- Jack the Ripper terrorizes Whitechapel and James sets out to discover the murderer, only to somehow discover its John Druitt, the two never see eye to eye again

The Suit
Edit
A few notes here before you get too far into this section. It is full of headcannon as the suit/device itself is never really covered much in cannon except to say that it keeps him living. Also, Knight is not a scientist OR a doctor, so...the science is sketchy (when it is added). It is also image heavy, as it is easier to show most of this then to describe it. It however is his loss so while he may attempt to build it...he won't ever get to use it. This is here just on the off chance he has to build something similar for someone.
His life support suit is divided up into a series of tubes, a chest piece, and exoskeletal braces all designed to stop his body from aging to his actual age of 160 and to keep his organs functioning as well. It is somehow wired or connected to his vital organs via the chest piece which primarily keeps his heart and lungs operating, though over time more was added to it to keep his body functioning.
The primary piece is the chest piece, which was also the first piece to be made. Dating back before World War II the device keeps his heart and lungs from failing as well as somehow keeping him from aging beyond his physical appearance of his late forties. Various dials and buttons on the front of it control it and it's functions. In a bunker in France during World War II this was used against him as one button push stopped him from breathing all together, while a turn of a dial effected his heart, causing him extreme amounts of pain. It was not infallible however, as during the Lazarus virus incident where in he traveled to Bhalasaam with the others, his suit had been failing for some time, making him sweat and at a rather constant loss of breath during that entire expedition, leaning heavily on the wall or someone else as he walked. Total failure of the chest piece itself resulted in a rapid age to a very old man and his death. The removal of a piece of the chest piece as well resulted in his lack of ability to breath, so damage to it is possible and has an immediate effect on him.
The braces on his legs are the next key to his suit, and they are one of the more recent additions, being dded sometime after World War II. They allow him to walk, and are a self contained part of the suit itself. Damage to one of them or removal of them would find him paralyzed from the waist down, or experiencing even more difficulty walking. He truly can not run in them, as they are far to bulky to do so and his walking is rather stiff in them as well.
The tubing connected to him by various rings and other things along his body aide his blood and other fluids. Essentially they are an addition to his circulatory system which has taken a beating over the years through not only the Source blood experiment but also the occasional abuse of painkillers and worse. A later addition in response to his body needing the aide, as well as the additional fluids and such they add to his body, they are connected centrally to the chest piece. If that fails then nothing works as was said above, and he will die. Cutting the tubing will slow or cause problems from lack of blood or other fluids that keep his body functioning, even eventual death if left alone long enough.

Fun Facts
Edit
- Before 1944 James's suit only consisted of a chest device, that according to fan speculation controled his heart rate and more then likely his lungs as well. After 1944 additional devices are added to the machine, rings on his fingers and his neck, braces on his legs.
Languages Known
Edit
Like Helen James has a number of known languages, both at least passable or fluent. A number of his languages come from wanting to talk with the other international heads of houses in their native language. Most of this is headcannon (Where not it is noted) so it is subject to change.
- German (with an accent, though he DOES try for a Bavarian one in World War II), Spoken, Written
- Latin (a hobby of his, Revelations)
- French (Normandy)
- English (native language)
- Morse Code (Telegram, Revelations)
- A number of European languages (Vague cannon is vague, but figure from his work from being in charge of a Sanctuary)
- Hindi (Again head of a Sanctuary)
- Spanish
- Italian
- Russian
- Welsh
- Gaelic
- Swedish
- Greek
- Ancient Vampire (Passable working knowledge)
- Serbian (Again passable knowledge)
- American Sign Language (In response to working with others across the ocean)
