"What the hell's that mean?! There's no need to apologize! It's either right or wrong! You think you can flip on the good-guy routine whenever you like?! Not when I'm this pissed off! Kallen Kouzuki's a soldier, not a sideshow!"

Proud, stubborn and passionate, Kallen Kouzuki is a strong and forward person, doing whatever she can to assist causes she believes in. The foremost example is her role in helping liberate Japan from Britannia's dictatorial grasp. Even before Zero comes to power and establishes the Black Knights, she is doing whatever she can to impede the world power from taking a stronger grasp on her country, despite the minimal manpower and supplies the resistance had. Bad odds be damned, she isn't one to give up easily, and if she's going to go down, it's going to be with a hell of a fight.

In accordance with her fighter's attitude, she possesses a rather rough exterior. Normally quick to react, Kallen has a bit of a temper, especially when it comes to select things such as her devotion to Zero or her mixed heritage. If asked about her Britannian blood, the redhead will fervently declare that she's Japanese. She isn't one to beat around the bush or sugarcoat things, either. When it comes to delivering the facts, she may take a gentler approach when dealing with certain people, but that won't stop her from being truthful.

Since the young woman is driven to do whatever it takes to gain independence for her country, she has been shown to exhibit extreme hostility towards Britannians on the battlefield. This has gone as far as her referring to them as 'Britannian scum' while they duke it out. However, off the battlefield, her hatred is significantly lessened. It's most likely due to the fact that some of her good friends are of Britannian origin. The Ashford student council means a lot to Kallen, whether she openly admits it or not, indicating she is fully aware that Britannians can be good people.

Going further down that road, beneath her rough and tumble outer shell lies a kind and caring girl. Her drive to get things accomplished is fueled by a strong desire to live peacefully with those she cares for in a country she's proud of. The times she's spent with her friends are very important to her. Milly, one of the student council, even comments that Kallen is still watching over them, and that 'it's just like her.' An obvious wish to protect people is present in her character and strengthened each time she has a moment of peace.

Additionally, miss Kouzuki is rather intelligent. While certainly not up to par with Lelouch/Zero, she's able to maintain top grades at Ashford while most of her time is spent with the Black Knights. Furthermore, when she is present at school, she keeps up a facade of a timid, frail girl who is often ill, and very few are able to figure it out. Her ability to expertly pilot a Knightmare Frame and easily beat most experienced soldiers demonstrates her ability to catch on to things in a very timely manner.
