Koriand'r is a Tamaranean, a race of beings which allows their emotions to rule their thoughts and lives. As Koriand'r grew up in this society, she was raised to believe such things and it is remarkably difficult for her to comprehend why one shouldn't allow their emotions to control themselves. She's a generally kind and generous person, she adores and cares for her friends and their friends by extension. She could and would do anything for someone she cared for. She's a stubborn person, refusing to give up on her love, Dick Grayson, even though he refused her because of her ruthlessness and eagerness in battle. She enjoys battle and perhaps that is her fatal flaw.
Despite that, she has a strong sense of duty, allowing herself to be married to another man on her planet in order to restore peace and order to it even though she herself opposed it entirely.
She has a strong, vibrant personality. If she has something to say, she will say it, if she believes something should be done, she will do it. Now, that is not to say she cannot be persuaded to do otherwise--she has grown calmer with age, more controlled with both herself and her emotions, channeling them to her advantage, but her opinion will always be quite clear. She dislikes lying (but will do so to save/protect her friends) and has a very honest and open character. She's incredibly strong, both in body and spirit, even the rejections by Dick and the death of those she's known and cared for for her entire stay on Earth have only served to temper her spirit into something astounding. She grieves and she lets herself feel anger for what has been done to them and her, but she will not let it send her into impossible despair.
She can be considered something of a leader-figure these days, having led the Teen Titans for a short period of time before joining the Outsiders to be closer to Dick. She remains an invaluable person to have on any team.
History Edit
Starfire was born Koriand'r to King Myrand'r and Queen Luand'r. She is the second of three children; an older sister Komand'r (also known as Blackfire) and a younger brother Ryand'r (also known as Blackfire) on the planet Tamaran. Her sister, Komand'r lost the Tamaranean ability of flight at an early age due to illness and was therefore deemed unworthy of succession whereupon the duty fell to Koriand'r.
Koriand'r's childhood was relatively carefree. Though her people were embroiled in a bitter war with The Citadel, by rights her life was a happy one. When she and her sister were sent to the legendary warlords of the planet Okaara, her sister took the opportunity to escape and defected to The Citadel, revealing to them the secret of their war strategies and threatening the safety of the entire planet. In return for sparing the planet and the lives of their people, King Myand'r and his wife surrendered Koriand'r to The Citadel where she was sold into slavery for the next six years.
Six years later Koriand'r found herself in the custody of the Psions, a largely technologically oriented race, who were intent on using Koriand'r and her newly captured sister for experimentation. Through an experiment designed to discern just how much solar radiation a Tamaranean body could endure before exploding, Koriand'r and her sister acquired the ability to produce beams of concentrated sunlight, known as starbolts.
Koriand'r was rescued from certain death by a newly formed band of heroes, Raven, Cyborg, Wonder Girl, Changeling and Robin, gathered together by Raven in order to save her from her fate. After being released, she proceeded to release her sister, despite their conflicts and differences. Komand'r responded by blasting her with her newly acquired starbolts and escaping from the ship where they had been held.
Koriand'r fled with her rescuers, traveling to Earth, where she decided to remain. A condition of her people's treaty with The Citadel stipulated that she was to be exiled for the rest of her life.
Quickly becoming friends with her rescuers, especially Donna Troy, Koriand'r attempted to adapt to life on Earth while assisting her friend in their superheroics. She and her friends re-formed the Teen Titans and fought under that title for several years, remaining a strong and loyal group with very close friendships.
She and her friends have fought and defeated Trigon at several opportunities

Expert Combatant - Koriand'r is from a warrior race. As the princess of said race, she was sent to the Warlords of Okaara for training. Through this traing she became an exceedingly proficient in armed and unarmed combat.
Linguistic Assimilation - Koriand'r is capable of absorbing any language in its entirety through physical contact. When she uses it, she has a fondness for absorbing it through physical affection (i.e. kissing).
Tamaranean Solar Absorption - A natural ability of all Tamaranean's. Koriand'r constantly converts ultraviolet radiation into energy. She is also capable of absorbing such radiation from other life forms, having done so to weaken a group of Kryptonians who use such radiation to fuel their superhuman abilities. This is the main soure of her power and allows to perform all of her other abilities.
Flight - By converting ultraviolet radiation into energy, Koriand'r is capable of flight, and this feat leaves a distinctive contrail behind, seeming to come from her hair. She is capable of flying lightyears through space in short amounts of time.
Starbolts - Due to solar experimentation, in which Psions attempted to ascertain just how much solar energy Koriand'r and her sister Komand'r (Blackfire) could absorb before their bodies exploded, Koriand'r gained the ability to channel and project solar energy into powerful blasts. She is capable of consciously altering the strength of these blasts, and though easily capable of utterly vaporizing a man, she makes a conscious effort to tone them down so they will merely stun the offender. She is also capable of releasing all of her stored energy in a single super nova-like blast, with allegedly has the same intensity as the sun itself. These blasts are only used when all other options are impossible.
Invulnerability - Koriand'r is impervious to most damage, but can be injured and even knocked unconscious.
Superhuman Strength - She is physically much stronger than a human and the exact limit of her strength is as of yet unknown. She is stated to be stronger than Donna Troy (but may or may not be weaker than Wonder Girl and Wonder Woman?)

▬▬ The only surviving member of her family are her brother, Ryand'r, and her sister, Komand'r, who somehow managed to survive the eradication of her people and planets. The exact number of people who survived the destruction is unknown, but thought to be exceedingly limited.
