Personality
Edit
At first glance Larry comes off as a bit awkward and strange. When he opens his mouth for the first time he's likely to say something blunt and at times off-putting. He likes to challenge people, and he likes to be right, so if immediately challenged back he won't hesitate in getting more vocal with his opinion. It's hard to know if it's the lawyer in him that makes him this way, or that it's because of it that he is a lawyer. He works opposite the main firm in canon, and it's always war. Even though he's friends with them and Ally is his girlfriend. He often places or accepts silly bets based on who will win a case, and he hates to lose. At one point Ally got suckered into giving Larry a long foot-massage due to his winning the case. When getting to know Larry, he comes off as much more caring and insightful. People learn that while he may be blunt and opinionated, he usually has a good point, and it usually comes from his heart. One of the first things that got him approval by Ally's friend, Elaine, is when Larry is visiting with Ally and notices Elaine is upset about something. Everyone else is passing it off as her being Elaine but Larry. When he realizes she's down due to the holidays he asks her if she likes to sing, and tells her it's how he deals with feeling blue. He convinces her to pick a bright song to perform and it brightens her up. Ally sees this and is a bit taken back at his insight and how sweetly he dealt with Elaine.
Larry feels down more often than he'll let on. Even when he's happy, and in a good relationship with Ally, there is always an underlying pain. This shows through around the holidays, because he has a son and being without him over Christmas is the hardest of the entire year. Larry thinks he could be a better father to Sam, and he's ashamed of not being near him. He puts himself into his music, so when he plays with his son in mind, his heartache can be felt strongly through the music. He has a huge amount of guilt that things didn't work out with Sam's mother, who he was never married to. Once that relationship had fallen apart Larry did what he does best and he ran. He had a short lived marriage later and again it's something he takes blame for. Despite it all, he remains friends with both women, because no matter what happened he still loves them. He doesn't know how to stop loving anyone even if he's too scared to be with them.
Larry's worst enemy is his guilt and his fear of not being enough. It's part of the reason he and Ally didn't last. He's stubborn and hard on himself. When things are uncertain between Ally and Larry, and they aren't discussing it, Larry is told he needs to go after her. His simple answer is, “I don't do that”. He tends to believe if something isn't meant to be then it should be left alone. Or at least, that's how he acts. The one thing that truly brightens Larry is his son. When Larry is with Sam there's a changed aura around him that can't be summoned from anything else. While his problems were a cause of his relationship with Ally to fail the bigger cause was his love of Sam, and his need to have Sam in his life.
Sometimes Larry is hard to like at first, but learning more about him and getting closer to him shows how great of a man he can be. He may not believe it, but so many other people do.
History

You can talk about his history here.
Relationships
Edit
Sam Paul: Sam is Larry's seven year old son with an ex-girlfriend, Jamie. Sam and his mother live in Detroit. Sam and Larry are very close even though they live so far apart. Sam is a bright, smart child for his age and understands Larry more than Larry realizes. In episode 4x12: Hats Off To Larry, Sam appeared in Boston after having bought an airline ticket online and boarding the plane on his own. He shows up in Ally's office claiming that he wants to sue his parents for emotional distress, due to them splitting up. It then comes out that he's Larry's son, and through the episode we learn that things are increasingly difficult for Sam. He's having trouble in school and getting into fights, and Larry decides he has to take Sam home and stay there for awhile. He later returns to Boston for a bit only to leave again and return to his son.
Sam, like his father, plays piano. Music, the piano, and Christmas are things that father and son have a bond over, and all of these things are hard on Larry when Sam isn't around.
Jamie (last name never revealed): Jamie was Larry's girlfriend in college and possibly before. It was never stated when they met. They did musical theater together in college, and had a very hot and cold relationship the entire time they were together. She and Larry are still close friends and it's said that they talk regularly. Their son is a bond that will hold them together forever, and they both realize this, and both want to make the best of it for Sam. In 4x10: The Ex Files, Jamie comes to Boston on the pretense of work, but really she's there to tell Larry that she wants to move Sam to Canada where her parents live. Larry doesn't want this, and she tells him maybe he should just move back to Detroit so they can all be a family again. The truth of her visit comes out in that she feels she's finally losing Larry for good, because of the way he talks about Ally. She knows that there's something different there for him, and she knows that if she doesn't get him back at that point, she never will. She ends up giving up and going back home to Detroit, giving in to the fact that she and Larry are through.
Through it all, and the fighting, it's clear that Larry still loves her and still thinks about their time together. While he isn't interested in getting back together with her, she's still someone that matters deeply to him.

Relationships
Edit
Lorne: His boss at Caritas and fellow musician. The two can often be found chatting it up, joking around with one another, and have been known to enjoy a good tea party together.
Fred Burkle: Probably his best friend here. There's definitely and underlying sense of attraction, but nothing he would act on. Their friendship means too much to him.
Sophie Devereaux: They have ups and downs with awkwardness and affection. There's something there, but they're not completely there yet.
Bela Talbot: They aren't extremely close, but he considers her a friend. He lends her his lawyer brain when she needs it, to the best of his ability with his loss.
Peter Parker: They met in an unfortunate evening, but through bickering and teammwork they got through. There's a goofy father/son relationship there.
Cessily Kincaid, Yukari Takeba, Tam Fox: Much like Peter, their meeting was unfortunate, but Larry keeps an ear out for them now if he can. He admits that he doesn't as much as he should for them or Peter.
Kat: Another friend made from that evening. He likes talking to her and they have a mutual understanding with what happened that night, and they don't really talk about it.
Jilly Coppercorn: He adores her. No way around it. They talk about things.
Lois Lane: She's spunky and fun and he likes her. She has turned him on to maple donuts.
Losses
Edit
Mr Willowby: Larry spent a long weekend as another persona "Mr. Willowby" from a TV special Robert Downey Jr. did called "Mr. Willowby and the Perfect Tree". Larry was creepily cheerful for four days and spoke odd. Mr. Willowby brought a piano into Larry's room and it got left there when Larry got back to normal. There was also an incident with Fred and a bedtime story. Larry feels ashamed.
Young and Carefree: Not exactly a Larry loss, but while Lorne was on a loss Larry got a side-effect from it. Lorne told Larry to loosen up and he did. For a week or so he was like his college-self again and funtimes ensued.
Nothin' But a Hound Dog: While his mun was on hiatus, Larry was a puppy for a month. He stayed with Sophie and he remembers nothing of it.
Events
Edit
Paradisa Goes Back To School: Highschool plot. Larry was the principal at Paradisa High in Anytown, USA. A couple days in he got an alien implanted in his head and he became a rigid, hardass. Made more enemies than friends. Held a faculty meeting and implanted all of them with aliens. Tried to take over the entire highschool with his fellow aliens. Midnight Man: Just before Halloween, Larry and a half dozen others woke up in the Insolitus to darkness and confusion. Something called the Midnight Man was in there and was chasing them. It was frightening and traumatic. At one point Larry got caught and saw the thing's face and also got dosed with seeing some not so pleasant things about his son. Eventually they all escaped, but the night and visions still haunt him.
Slenderman: When kids started going missing, Larry helped Lorne lock things down at Caritas. Mostly he was there helping out as he could, offering support to those who needed it.
