PERSONALITY。 Edit

"No one can escape time; it delivers us all to the same end. You can't plug your ears and cover your eyes."
Pharos2.png

Pharos, despite being a strange and mostly inhuman entity, is in the end still a kid, one that doesn’t even understand the notion of what having a childhood might be. There are moments where he speaks cryptically and forebodingly, of a future not even he fully understands most of the time but simply knows about, and there are times when he is a little boy, bright and curious and absolutely enamored with everything he doesn’t know about the world. Above all else (other than his role) he cherishes friendship highly and views human life as infinitely precious and something close to a miracle.

His fascination with human beings aside, because his entire existence so far has been within the psyche of someone else, Pharos is somewhat disconnected from his own body. Other than standing up or making a vague hand gesture for emphasis, he never reaches out for anything and doesn’t even walk around most of the time, simply fading from one location and reappearing in the next. He still feels things, of course; if he’s cold his body shakes and if he’s hot it sweats, but on a mental level it doesn’t quite seem to reach him. He’ll say it’s cold out, but not really understand that “cold” is much different than “heat”, or that staying out without a jacket in winter time might not be the greatest idea on the face of the earth— he’s never even been hugged before, and wouldn’t understand the reasoning behind it if he received one. This will probably change with time as he becomes more acclimated to being an actual resident of the world and not just someone that gets vague impressions of it through someone else.

He’s a fairly simple sort of child, and while he can be a bit somber at times, he doesn’t have the capacity to lie. Where most people would deny being upset if they were asked if something was wrong, Pharos would likely smile and say “yes, but I would rather not talk about it.” And then... well. Refuse to talk about it. He’s an honest boy and won’t lie even if it’s for the persons own good, but he also reserves the right to simply say that he doesn’t feel like telling them, which is a perfectly honest answer in the long run. While he knows little about the world outside of Minato’s bedroom, the boy is fearless and speaks his mind more often than not, and he is energetic but not loud or obnoxious.

When it comes right down to it he’s a relatively kind boy, and while he would come to love the opportunity to simply live and make friends, he would not choose such a destiny over the one that has already been laid out for him. Pharos knows exactly what it is that he must do, and he accepts that fate without question, because he sees it as the only reason for his existence.

LOSS。 Edit

Pharos’ loss will be his ability to “know death”. He is very closely connected with death, and as such has made predictions of generally disturbing occurrences throughout the game, which frequently involved the death of a character. Simply by meeting with a person he automatically acquires the knowledge of people that have died around them, if someone they know currently will die, or if the person themselves will die soon, should that fate not be interrupted. This ability is the same as sight to Pharos, who has known nothing else since his existence began, and it would result similarly should he lose it, not unlike someone who has been able to see all their life going blind— the future, which had previously been as clear as day whenever he met someone, would become a complete mystery to him. As far as his knowledge goes, Pharos wouldn’t know any more about the future or past than anyone else. Being “death” itself in a sense, that’s kind of a big thing for him.

ABILITIES。 Edit

Yep, Death.

As stated above, Pharos has lost his ability to "know death"; but in addition to the fact that he cannot feel death around anyone, he can’t feel life either. This means that no matter how he looks at a person, whether they're standing right in front of him and talking or taking a nap on a couch, or even if they're actually dead, he simply can't tell the difference anymore— the world which was previously a black and white of life and death has faded to muted shades of gray that he has great trouble distinguishing between. But his ability to sense humanity in someone has been left intact, so if you are or aren't human, he'll be able to tell the difference. ...he just probably won't know what you actually are, and he likely won't care much, either.

Though Pharos himself isn’t actually a persona user, his characteristics are directly connected to those of the Persona Thanatos, and he’s entirely capable of using a number of abilities at his disposal

Pharos。 Edit

  • Resistant to slash/strike damage. So if you go after him with a knife or sword and stab him it will look entirely like you’ve accomplished this at first. But once you actually look? Yeah, he’ll be perfectly fine without as much as a scratch on him. Chances are with how weird the P3 can be, you won’t even get any tears in his clothes that way. ...Also punching him probably won’t do a lot of good, sorry Akihiko.
  • Reflects dark damage. Feel free to interpret this however you like, whether you classify demonic abilities as “dark” is completely up to you, but typical mudo skills or something very clearly based in darkness will bounce right off him and be thrown back at the original user. He has no control over this ability, and couldn’t turn it off if he wanted to.
  • Weak against light skills. While nothing can actually “kill” him, anything considered to be a light skill will hurt like a bitch, even to Pharos who is typically somewhat disconnected from his body. If an attack is powerful enough the effects of it could have him out of commission for days, but it won’t kill him.
  • Phasing/Teleporting, for lack of a better way to put it, is Pharos’s typical choice for transportation. If you're paying attention when it happens he basically just fades from one place and appears again in another. Though it doesn’t look like this takes any real effort, anyone around that can sense weird stuff should notice a lot of dark or powerful energy coming from him whenever he does this.
  • Hammerspace, also for lack of a better way to really put it, is heavily related to Pharos's handy teleportation skills. It's essentially where he is when he isn't somewhere else, how he gets from place to place, and if he wanted he could stay there for weeks. It's extremely similar to the UG frequency that Joshua uses, and is pretty much equally unfair. For all we know, it could be the exact same thing as Joshua's handy skill, actually. Pharos mostly uses this ability for stalking purposes though, and doesn't make much use of it outside of that.
  • Note for the psychics: Poking around in this kids head is hazardous to your health.
  • ‘Pharos’, being the human side, is the part of him that can die, and therefore he’s the easiest of “the two halves” to take down. You won’t be so lucky with the other half, however.

'Death'。 Edit

These are skills that, while not entirely exclusive to his 'true form', they are much more likely to be seen while in this state.

  • Berseker mode, for lack of a better term. Though unlikely to actually happen unless the Castle has been involved in some way or someone has threatened Minato, ‘Death’ can go entirely batshit insane at times. As can be seen when Thanatos shows himself for the first time, he’s not above tearing a part of himself apart with his bare hands.
  • Mad sword skills. There’s a good possibility Pharos himself may be too physically weak to wield a sword under normal circumstances, and even ‘Death’ doesn’t seem to handle it with much grace, but damn if that actually stops him from slicing and dicing.
  • Increased light tolerance. Light skills will still hurt like a bitch, but they won’t do as much damage - though ‘Death’ feels even less pain than Pharos does.
  • Cannot be killed. Given the very nature of death itself, the best you can probably do is immobilize it, get Minato to do something, or pray that the Castle is on your side.
  • 'Apathy'. Pharos, while in this state, is usually perfectly aware and capable of understanding what’s going on. The problem is that he doesn’t have the capacity to care about much of anything but Minato and his 'job'. Being close with him will most likely not save you while he’s in this state, and it’s usually best to just get his attention on something other than yourself.

S.LINKS。 Edit

canon。 Edit

SEESEdit

  • AIGIS ⇀ Responsible for sealing him inside of Minato. It seems that Minato has helped even her to gain some degree of humanity.
  • AKIHIKO SANADA ⇀ Akihiko and Pharos tend to disagree with each other a lot, but for the most part Pharos doesn't actually trust Minato's safety to anyone but him. He regrets not being able to prevent Akihiko from dying while in Paradisa, and has decided that put him under 'his jurisdiction', and that he will prevent any further harm to come to him. Akihiko is one of the few people Pharos was intent on keeping safe even before he died, even going so far as to save him while in Midland.
  • FUUKA YAMAGISHI ⇀ A very nice girl that seems to like cooking. Pharos hasn't gotten to know her very well.
  • JUNPEI IORI ⇀ He seems very fond of girls....
  • KEN AMADA ⇀ Oh... :( That kid who's mom died. Pharos doesn't know him personally.
  • KOROMARU ⇀ KOROMARU HATES PHAROS because he can sense his deathliness. This makes Pharos a little sad, but he doesn't really blame him.
  • MINATO ARISATO ⇀ Minato, rather literally, means everything to Pharos. I could tl;dr about this for ages, but basically; imagine the world you grew up in, all the friends you ever had, all the experiences you've ever know, all the good and the bad and the sadness and the joy. Mash all that up together, and you have what Minato is to Pharos.
  • MITSURU KIRIJO ⇀ The girl with red hair from Minato's world. That's the most impression she's had on him so far.
  • SHINJIRO ARAGAKI ⇀ Though Pharos hasn't gotten to speak with Shinjiro very much himself, he knows about Shinji's inevitable death and feels partially responsible for the way he died. He's often a topic of disagreement between Pharos and Akihiko.
  • YUKARI TAKEBA ⇀ She comes and goes here a lot. :( But Pharos knows that Minato dated her before his arrival, and that she was a close friend of Rin's at one point.

OthersEdit

  • CHIDORI ⇀ A not as loyal member of Strega.
  • ELIZABETH ⇀ Someone that seems to share his feelings about Minato. On the one hand, he found her to be quite interesting. ...On the other, the fact that they seemed to feel similarly about Minato was worrying to a certain degree.
  • IGOR ⇀ ... He wonders about you, Igor. :|
  • JIN ⇀ A member of Strega who was loyal to Takaya.
  • MIKI ⇀ Akihiko's little sister. It's likely that Pharos, being death, had to take her to move on after she died.
  • RYOJI ⇀ Pharos's apparent "future self", in a sense. He has lots of mixed feelings about Ryoji, but is glad that he got to live as a human being with Minato for a little while.
  • SHUJI IKUTSUKI ⇀ This guy had the right idea but very bad ways of going about doing things.
  • TAKAYA ⇀ Pharos doesn't approve of his methods, but this guy also had the right idea.

Paradisa。 (WIP)Edit

☠ Know about what he is or have seen it.

ImportantEdit

People he'd be potentially be willing to 'bend the rules' for, and the ones he has a genuine emotional attachment to.

  • Joshua/The Composer ⇀ One of the few people in the Castle that he has to work to keep up with, and one of the only ones to truly make him think about things on his own as opposed to merely listening. Conversations with Joshua are never boring; though it seems the thought of friendship between them is not reciprocated by Joshua himself. Despite this, Joshua was the person that talked him out of his depression when Minato left, and though he's still not entirely over the loss Pharos has decided - with Joshua's help of leading him in the right direction - that he'd like to try 'living'.
  • Uru ⇀ Minato told Uru about what Pharos is without his permission, and so she knew about it for quite a long time before Pharos ever realized it. Still, she has insisted on treating him almost the same as she ever has, though Pharos is certain he must frighten her a little bit. He finds her faith in humanity and her optimism to be very uplifting, and a refreshing change from his typical mindset when it comes to humans - even if he does think the way she views the world is a little bit naive. Despite her only being a human, Pharos believes Uru is the only person that can truly understand his feelings about Minato leaving because Minato was almost as important to her as he was him.
  • Wisely ⇀ One of Pharos's first friends, and one of the people that probably had the largest impact on him as far as emotional growth goes. Wisely's influence is often seen when Pharos makes poor attempts at jokes, becomes angry, or insults people. In the long run, Wisely was probably the best friend that Pharos has had as of yet. He wasn't happy when he found out after Wisely left that the Akuma used in his side of the war are powered by souls, however.
  • Zelman ⇀ The fact that Zelman doesn't appear to have a conventional soul is actually relieving, in a way; it means that despite how fond he is of Zelman, the man isn't actually under his jurisdiction, and any thoughts he might have as far as wanting to protect him are entirely his own as 'Pharos'. Zelman doesn't appear to actually be fond of humans, but he's not outwardly hostile to them on most occasions, which is rather nice for Pharos, as it means there is significantly less than there might be that he has to keep an eye on while in Zelman's presence. On the one hand, Zelman does a brilliant job of putting Pharos in a good mood, and Pharos always loves to listen to the things that Zelman has to say; on the other, Zelman has filled a lot of the gap that Wisely created when he left, and he does an excellent job of egging Pharos on when it comes to his more violent side. Ultimately, Pharos would be willing to look the other way and bend almost all the rules he has for Zelman, who is possibly his favorite person in the Castle. There's a good possibility Pharos has something similar to a crush on him.

FriendsEdit

Chances are, if you fall under this category Pharos genuinely does like you and enjoys spending time with you, but he'd still cut you down if he really had to.

  • Abel ⇀ Pharos is quite fond of Abel, and they get along rather well. Unfortunately, they never seem to talk much when nothing disastrous is going on inside the Castle.
  • Allen ⇀ One of the first people Pharos ever met to actually speak well of humanity as a whole, and a very kind boy in general who agreed to continue being Pharos's friend even after finding out what he is. Pharos is extremely fond of Allen, and the war he's part of disheartens him quite a bit.
  • → The 14th ⇀ The Noah that has taken up residence inside of Allen and appears to be eating away at him. Pharos is quite fascinated by him.
  • Bakura ⇀ An ancient spirit that Pharos got along with quite well. He used Ryou as his host.
  • Ryou ⇀ A very nice boy that made awesome soup. He was Bakura's host.
  • Priscilla ⇀ Priscilla was an odd girl that abstained from eating human organs despite the fact that she seemed to be slowly starving herself for a very long time. She wasn't really 'all there', but Pharos was very fond of her, and the way that Teresa treated her made him quite angry. They ended up killing things together in Midland, and she left before he could offer an explanation for it afterword. He was sad to see her go.
  • Robin ⇀ Robin is a girl - whose real name Pharos does not know - who was brought back by her little brother and turned into an Akuma, a spirit bound to a metallic skeleton and forced to wear her own brother's skin. He considers what happened to her to be as heartbreaking as anything can be by his standards, and is quite determined to make sure she is able to enjoy her time within the Castle. He explained a little bit about what he is to her, but didn't outright tell her about it.
  • Tyki ⇀ Pharos was very fond of Tyki the first time he was here, and they got along quite well! He hasn't had much opportunity to speak with him now that he's returned to the Castle, however.

AcquaintancesEdit

The ones generally worth mentioning for whatever reason.

  • That one guy ⇀ He's talked to this guy at least a half dozen times now, but still has no idea what Arthur's name actually is.
  • Asuka ⇀ A girl that Zelman seems to be fond of. As such, Pharos has a decent opinion of her so far, bu not much else than that.
  • That kid ⇀ Kind of a brat and one of the few people in the Castle that Pharos finds to be truly annoying and kind of stupid.
  • Gilbert Nightray ⇀ Pharos scared the hell out of Gil by telling him he was death, and Gil nearly pulled a gun on him for it. He feels kind of bad about that. Then Gil left and came back and left again and over all not a lot of progress was made anyway. :c
  • Joshua Christopher ⇀ Explained love to him in yandere terms that he could actually understand. This probably should have never been allowed to happen.
  • Lavi ⇀ While Pharos is very fond of Lavi and the conversations they've had, he knows very little about Lavi himself, and as such hasn't become entirely attached to him yet.
  • Nanako ⇀ MAKES THE BEST BROWNIES *u*
  • Neku ⇀ Someone that is important to Joshua, but it seems Joshua isn't able to really talk about Neku much, or dislikes doing so. But Joshua said Neku could probably use company, and so Pharos intends to bother him whenever given the chance.

'Family'Edit

Or so they say.

  • Kid ⇀ His 'son' in a different universe, it seems. Kid is a nice enough boy though, so Pharos is pretty okay with this.
  • Eris ⇀ A child of Nyx, and therefore Pharos's 'younger sister'. He hasn't met her in person yet or realized she's kind of a bitch.

???Edit

If you fall into this category, then chances are Pharos doesn't know what to think about you anymore, if he ever did. Or you just don't fit anywhere else.

  • Alexstrasza ⇀ A guardian of life, and therefore, the being that could likely be considered his polar opposite within the Castle. Pharos likes her as well as anyone, but wonders if he's really supposed to.
  • Arthas ⇀ Much more intelligent and reasonable than Riful.
  • Asano Rin ⇀ They were on pretty friendly terms until Pharos told her what he is. Things got kinda awkward after that.
  • Okuzaki Akira ⇀ A girl that attempted to blame him for the death of someone that she loved. The way she described things though, she made it sound as though she were the one responsible for his death, and Pharos told her as much. He hasn't heard from her or seen her in a long time, and assumes that she has left the Castle.
  • Riful ⇀ Why is everyone worried about her, again? She seemed pretty weak to Pharos. And to think she made so much trouble for Priscilla by being around...
  • Teresa ⇀ He's torn when it comes to Teresa. On the one hand, he hasn't forgotten how she treated Priscilla. On the other, she falls under his jurisdiction, and he probably wouldn't mind her nearly as much if he'd met her first.
  • Tobias ⇀ Okay... they got along decently well, and then Tobias called Pharos pathetic while under alien-influence. Pharos didn't see the point in that at all, and thought Tobias would prefer it if he didn't bother him after that. They kind of tip-toe around each other a lot now. It was a year before they actually met in the Castle, so the entire time Pharos had no idea Tobias was a emohawk. He also genuinely thought Fluffer was his actual name for a good long while.

DIAFEdit

Entirely self-explanatory. :c

  • Griffith ⇀ HE WOULD TEAR YOU TO PIECES IF YOU WERE STILL HERE, GRIFFITH.
  • Thief King Bakura ⇀ This guy had a tendency to piss Pharos off a lot more than most people do. Shit would have probably gone down at some point if Tyki hadn't been fond of the guy.
  • Slenderman ⇀ GTFO

EXTRA。 Edit

  • Was given an Aron for his first "birthday" by Minato, 4/4/10.
    • Aron has efficiently wrecked 90% of the furniture in Pharos's room.
  • Was taken clothes shopping by Minato and Uru during the LA plot, and can occasionally be seen around the castle with an RUA t-shirt on. ...over his pajamas.
  • Adopted Wisely's pet frog, Arthur, when he left the Castle. 10/20/10.
    • Said frog sits on his head a lot, because it got tired of Pharos's clumsy handling.
  • I go with the original Persona 3 and FES like Hanky and Nita.
  • Only his "human side" can die.
  • Lacks fine motor skills like you wouldn't believe; can't write because of it.
  • No physical strength at all.
  • Probably comes off as the sickly type.
  • For the sake of having a standard, his HP stat is 4,444. Have fun with that.
  • Doesn't have many proper memories before becoming "Pharos" beyond the experimentation.
