☂Personality Edit

☇Ryou Bakura Edit

One of the main reasons for Ryou’s voice adapted into a British accent was because of the very polite way in which he speaks and addresses everyone—even enemies and hostiles. Of course speaking like that is also a way to distance one from others, which is another part of who Ryou is. Understandably Ryou’s an introverted character. Because of his constant moving due to his father’s work and the fact that he’s had to change many schools in so few years has made it a bit hard for him to connect with other people (the reason behind changing schools being Bakura putting other students into comas).

However he has a friendly disposition around strangers and because he’s got a very passive personality it’s not often that he alienates people or gets angry. He has a lot of patience and if generally optimistic, but he’s not above feeling angry for an injustice committed against himself or his friends. He’s a very honest person by nature and won’t just stand back if someone else is in trouble.

☇Yami no Bakura Edit

Bakura is the complete opposite. He refers to himself in a very boastful manner, addresses people quite rudely (using ‘temei’ rather than ‘omae’, which is already pretty bad). Bakura holds his own interests and well-being above everyone else’s and hardly thinks of Ryou as anything more than his host. The only time he’ll team up with someone else is if there’s something in it for him, and even then he’s hesitant to cooperate with them unless he’s the one calling the shots.

He hates being told what to do and believes only in himself. The lives of anyone he uses to further his own interests mean nothing to him, but he’s not above feeling embarrassment when his sense of ambition causes him to miss small details that others find obvious. Bakura is also not above injuring Ryou’s body to achieve his goals, as in the case when he willingly stabbed himself in the arm to help Malik get closer to Yuugi & co.

☇Ryou Bakura Edit

Not much to say here! Just look to the right, lol. Ryou's skinny, pale, and most of all limey in ways on he could be. Fo' real. He's not a threat to anyone, like...ever.

☇Yami no Bakura Edit

BAT HEAD. The major difference besides his evil face and demeanor is the bat-wing-like hair tufts he gains while taking over Ryou. He also holds himself with a more confident air and refers to himself as "Ore-sama", a very boastful manner of speaking.

☂Background Edit

☇Monster World Edit

Ryou meets Yuugi and his friends Katsuya Jounouchi, Hiroto Honda, and Anzu Mazaki when he is transferred to Domino High School. Ryou tells his new friends that he has a love for games of all types, particularly the RPG "Monster World". However for some mysterious reason that he cannot explain, everyone who has played with him has fallen into a coma. This is the main reason he transfers schools so often. When Yuugi allowed him to hold the Millennium Puzzle, Ryou felt a sharp pain in his chest (later revealed to be the Millennium Ring).

That night, Ryou is busy writing a letter to his sister, Amane (who later dies in a traffic accident); a voice announces that he is its new host. Ryou looks down in horror to find that the sharp points of the Millennium Ring are jabbing into his skin. This voice is Yami no Bakura (*Bakura from now on), a 3,000 year old ancient spirit from Egypt (Bakura is a 5,000 year old spirit in the English anime), who has his sights set on acquiring the Millennium Puzzle. It also reveals that it has been the one responsible for his friends’ comas sealing their souls within Ryou's game pieces, twisting Ryou's subconscious desire to be able to play games with his friends forever.

Bakura sets up a miniature Monster World game, and the next day invites his friends to play (in the Toei anime, Miho Nosaka is also invited). Each of the group picks a type of monster they wish to play as, and this Bakura seals them inside miniatures of their selected monsters. Yuugi becomes a monster tamer, Jounouchi a warrior, Hiroto a magic gunman and Anzu as a magician. In the Toei anime Miho becomes a gypsy. With everyone else's souls sealed in miniatures, Atem (occupying Yuugi's body) challenges Bakura to free his friends.

The good personality managed to emerge during the RPG, taking control of the body's left hand. The good Ryou intentionally fumbled several critical dice rolls, giving Atem an edge in the game. Once he realized this, Bakura impaled his good self's controlled hand on a tower spire of the game board's castle, laughing madly. However, good Ryou would not be defeated and sealed his soul into a pair of possessed dice. He caused the dice to shatter, effectively ending the game and killing himself in the process.

The good Ryou is dead when Atem reaches him. His avatar in the RPG is still animated, and White Mage Ryou uses his power as a level 13 mage to bring Ryou back to life. When doing this, his other self was placed back together with him.

☇Duellist Kingdom Edit

The first time you see Ryou is in the first episode, watching Yuugi duel Jounouchi. And then again when Jounouchi is duelling Anzu Mazaki. You do not see his face until he is on the cruise ship to the Duellist Kingdom Tournament. Ryou was not selected by Pegasus Crawford to be an official duellist in the tournament, and thus did not possess a Duelling Gauntlet and two star chips, which were required for entry onto the ship. In the manga, Ryou went on the boat with Yuugi and his friends. In the anime, Ryou first makes contact with the group when he confronts them on the island, although he is seen by Anzu Gardner a few times prior to this; however she thought her mind was playing tricks on her.

In the anime, Bakura traps Yuugi Muto, his friends and the good Ryou into their favourite Duel Monster cards, leaving Yami no Yuugi to save his friends lives. This is the anime's outlook on the first series anime and manga's Monster World RPG story arch. To further support this, the cards each member inhabits are similar to that of which they inhabited in the RPG. When defeated, Atem sent Bakura to the Graveyard.

Ryou stayed with the group up until Yuugi's defeat of Pegasus Crawford. After which Bakura challenges Pegasus to another Shadow Game, and defeats him, taking his Millennium Eye.

☇Battle City Edit

Ryou is stabbed in the arm by Bakura as part of Bakura and Malik Ishtar's plan to get the trust of Yuugi. Ryoudoesn't know how he got the injury, but Malik helps him out, winning the trust of Yuugi's friends.

Although Bakura manages to collect a Duel Disk and the required number of Locator Cards to enter the finals, Ryou tells his friends that he acquired them himself, but doesn't go into details on how he got them. Yuugi is shocked that Ryou is still hanging onto the Ring.

Bakura faces Yuugi in the quarter finals and narrowly loses. But to avoid defeat Malik orders Bakura to let Ryou take control. With Ryou, weaker than Bakura and still injured from the stab, Yuugi's last attack would cause a critical injury to Ryou. Bakura refuses to take the risk, as he needs Ryou to survive. He retakes control and lets Yuugi attack him. Ryou is left in a coma and the Ring is lost in the Duel, but was returned by Anzu being controlled. Malik in Anzu's body insists on Ryou's assistance. An evil self of Malik had gained control of his body. Bakura challenged what was now Malik, and ultimately lost. The Ring then fell into the hands of Yami Malik, and eventually ends up in the hands of Yuugi after Yuugi defeats Malik. Ryou wakes from his coma after Yuugi defeats Malik.

☇Millennium World Edit

In the Millennium World Bakura takes the Millennium Ring back from Rex Raptor and Weevil Underwood, who mistakenly took Yuugi's Millennium Items while trying to steal his Egyptian God Cards.

Soon after Bakura engages in a Dark RPG which recreated the events of Atem's own life. After Bakura ventures to the Memory World through the Dark RPG, Ryou is finally free from his control following the destruction of Zorc and the subsequent destruction of Bakura due to the fact that Bakura merged his spirit with Zorc's in the past therefore when Zorc was destroyed, so was Bakura because his spirit would no longer exist in the present time. To clarify, during the Dark RPG, Bakura transferred his spirit and Yami no Yuugi's to their Millennium World counterparts, therefore Bakura became one with Zorc which is why he was destroyed when Zorc was.

Ryou is last seen among the spectators in the final battle between Yuugi and Atem.

• Thief King Bakura ☇ God was he really so naive 3000 years ago? He's decided that while he may have been his past self he's far too inexperienced/not "matured" enough to become the one to inherit the power of the Millennium Items, so he feels little regret about using him for his own gains. Currently he's sealed part of his soul inside Thief!Bakura's Ring, and thanks to this he's been able to uncover memories of his childhood. It's made him wonder a bit more about the nature of the items, but more than that it's solidified his belief that he can use Thief!Bakura to further his own interests, and plans to provide him with some assistance to achieve this goal. Ryou however...isn't really sure what to make of him. He's rude and pushy and more than a little irritating and what makes things worse is the fact that he's declared Ryou his reincarnation, fit only to be the shell to host his spirit. Not exactly what Ryou wanted to ever hear, so currently he's not really liking this guy a whole lot. Part of him actually wishes they'd never met.
  
• Miho Nosaka ☇ A girl back in their world that has a large crush on Ryou. She's part of his fan club although he seems oblivious to her affection.
  
• Yuugi Mutou ☇ The Pharaoh's host. Ryou sees him as a friend but Bakura sees him as a means to collect Zorc's power for himself.
  
• Yami no Yuugi ☇ The Pharaoh. Ryou doesn't really think of him any different from Yuugi. Bakura wants him dead.

☇Paradisa Edit

• The 14th ☇ He and Ring!Bakura met when the 14th momentraily took control of Allen's body in the library so he could troll the Earl. Turns out they're both stuck within hosts they desire to take over so they'll have a body again, so a bit of comraderie happened there. It was fab~ They agreed to share information with one another.
  
• Allen Walker ☇ They met when Allen helped rescue Ryou from Rhode, and when they got to talking a bit more they realized they had a lot more in common than they thought ): He feels a bit of a deeper connection with Allen than he does with other people in Paradisa since they both have someone else inside them trying to take over, so he's more comfortable talking about that sort of thing with him. Call it cracka sympathy if you will. Aside from that though he really doesn't know much about Allen and doesn't really want to pry since he seems uncomfortable talking about himself.
  
• Amane Misa ☇ They had a bit of a mix-up when he accidentally filtered messages to his sister to her, but Misa apparently this happened with the previous Ryou as well! Over all he's not terribly comfortable around her since she insists he call her "Misa Misa", but she seems nice and isn't too pushy in a conversation.
  
• Guts the Black Swordsman ☇ Ring!Bakura is amused by his request to have someone else's memories tampered with... But other than that, there's nothing too notable about him just yet. Ryou on the other hand is completely freaked out by this guy; thanks to his lack of knowledge about most....anything really when it comes to times when he's possessed, he really has no clue why Guts seems to hate him so much. He's actually kind pretty frightened of him ):
  
• Joan ☇ Ring!Bakura met her when he was on his "date" with Thief King Bakura; he insulted her rofl.
  
• Pharos ☇ A strange and intriguing boy/spirit that Yami no Bakura met while in control of Ryou. He's not enitrely sure what to think of him. he seems simplistic but straightforward, and his ways of thinking intrigue him. It's not often someone stimulates his intellectual side rather than muderous one.
  
• Priscilla ☇ She's a very strange girl that gave Ryou his first boobhug :> While totally embarrassing he does worry for her a little since she doesn't seem to be quiet healthy, but he's still rather awkward around her. Ring!Bakura however is pretty much scared shitless of her--thanks to the ring's power he can just barely grasp the innate power she has, and he retreats as far into his host whenever she gets near. This of course makes him hate her all the more since he doesn't like feelings of cowardice... So he's in kind of a slump, not sure if his presence will provoke her or not. He's not sure he wants to find out first-hand ):
  
• Raenef ☇ Ryou's demon lord neighbor. Considers him a friend and doesn't want Raenef to have to worry about him too much, so he puts on a brave front. Hopes to remain on good terms with him :>
  
• Lavi ☇ Another Exorcist who helped him out with the whole Rhode situation. Ryou thinks of him as a kind and charismatic person, and wouldn't mind getting to know him a little better.
  
• Souji ☇ They met when Souji got stuck reading a Twilight parody. He actually liked the book, sadly enough.
  
• Subaru ☇ Makes the Ring act up! He also helped Ryou fix his door.
  
• Uru ☇ She thought he was a girl when they first spoke over the journals which was a liiiittle awkward. She's also carried him bridal-style once which was...emasculating )8 But her heart's in the right place and as awkward as it is for him to speak with girls, Uru's slowly getting there! She's probably one of the closest friends he has in Paradisa, since she always seems to be looking out for him and giving him protein drinks rofl. He wishes she'd be a bit more careful when it comes to Thief King Bakura, though.
  
• Teresa of the Faint Smile ☇ The Ring reacted to her too! He's not sure why, she seems pretty nice. Bakura however is amused by her attempts to keep knowledge about Cruxis Crystals from his reach. He's keeping an eye on her now.
  
• Tyki ☇ Ring!Bakura does not like this guy; apparently he's dating his past self B| Worst life partner ever, and it's no fair that he can't stab the bastard. Hates being called creampuff, damnit. Ryou however is wary of him. Could possibly be a ghost with personal space issues.
  
• Yamanaka Ino ☇ He accidentally blabbed about his faggotry for RPGs to her, which was beyond embarrassing. That plus the fact that he isn't good around girls is...yeah. He isn't aware that she's spoken to Ring!Bakura just yet.
  
• Yousuke Hanamura ☇ They met when Yosuke arrived! He feels kinda bad for the guy, winding up in a snowdrift instead of a warm comfy bed.

☇Gone Edit

• Rhode ☇ A crazy loli he happened to meet via the journals while investigating Noah. Although he doesn't see her as anything more than a psychotic child and finds it weird that he gets along with her, she's interesting and opened up the fun little opportunity of messing around with some Exorcists. He wants to see what she's really capable. Too bad she's related to Tyki though.
  
• Kuchiki Byakuya ☇ Saw him mourning on December morning, and thought he looked a little lonely. He got scared off pretty quick though since we all know how friendly Byakuya can be.
  
• Lenalee Lee ☇ Helped him out with the whole Rhode thing~ And he met her again at the Paradisa Christmas ball! She's very kind and Ryou likes her.
