History Edit

“And that's the story of my whole entire life! Well, up until today, do you wanna hear about today?”

Spike, as most dragons do, started off as an egg. His egg, in fact, was given to a young Twilight Sparkle to hatch as part of her entrance exam to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. Twilight hatched him out with the inadvertent help of Rainbow Dash, and at some point he became her assistant as she learned all about magic. Why the hell the ponies had a dragon egg to begin with is never really explained. Maybe they just wanted someone around with opposable thumbs and child abduction was as good a solution as any. WHO KNOWS.

Regardless, he remained inseparable from Twilight, staying with her when she moved from Canterlot to live in Ponyville, where he stayed as her assistant, helping her run the library and relaying messages to and from Princess Celestia. He had many adventures there, learning about friendship and all that jazz. He came into Paradisa after 'running away from home'. With Twilight adopting an owl as an extra assistant, Spike's feelings of being replaced, and a few...incidents, the dragon was left certain Twilight no longer loved him and he fled to the EverFree forest. Where he was promptly attacked by an adult dragon for invading his home. He arrived via the castle's oven.

Personality Edit

“I don't want any of that girly frilly froo-froo nonsense.”

Spike is a very sarcastic little guy. He uses deadpan humour often, despite the fact it goes over someponies heads. He also has a tendency to laugh at other’s misfortunes, not in a cruel way, mind, just a ‘lulz, you’re an idiot’ way. Living surrounded by girls, Spike is very protective of his masculinity, and will quickly dismiss anything he considers ‘too girly’. Unless, of course, Rarity is involved, then he can sometimes be convinced to partake in the activity.

He’s got a massive ego, and loves nothing more than having it fluffed, to the point where he’ll push it a little too far in asking for his friends praise. Despite the fact he tries to act like the coolest guy around, he IS still just a baby dragon. The love and respect of his friends is vitally important to him, and when he feels he could lose it, he gets insanely jealous and does Stupid Things.

That said, he will do mischievous things when he thinks he can get away with it. If he actually hurts anyone, however, he is quick to apologise. He’s a good guy, it’s just that he’s still learning.

Abilities Edit

“I definitely like the idea of hibernation, uh, except for the ‘eat less food’ part.”

Fire breathing - Spike’s fire is green. Deal with it.
Regular fire: Despite its colour, it acts like regular fire. He uses it to cook food. It doesn’t seem to get much hotter than to roast popcorn/bake pies with.
Magical fire: Looks the same as regular fire, but he can use this to send messages with, and he can also burp out messages sent to him. How does this work? NEVER ASK. The sent messages always come from Princess Celestia, so if this is due to her magic, or if anyone can send ‘dragon mail’ has not yet been confirmed.

Other

He comments that all dragons are ‘fireproof’.
Spike’s scales are VERY thick, and as such really hard to penetrate. Stabbing him probably won’t work guys.
He’s also incredibly hard to poison.
His teeth can chew through gemstones like they’re cookies, you probably don’t want to be bitten by him.
He'll use his tail as a weapon too, pounding the spikes into enemies like a jackhammer. He's called Spike for a REASON.

He has an iron stomach, and can eat just about anything. His favourite food is gemstones.
That said he does NOT eat meat. He lives in a vegetarian society.
He can play the piano.

Thanks to Owlowiscious, and his current canonpoint (lesson of friendship: NOT LEARNED) Spike has a deep resentment toward owls. Don’t bring them up. Just...don’t.
If given the opportunity, he will work as ‘announcer’ in any event.
He is a BABY dragon, and as such requires a ridiculous amount of sleep. His loss has screwed up his sleeping in idea, so there will be moments where he’ll collapse in an adorable narcoleptic heap.

“Hair-ity, Rainbow Crash, Spittie Pie, Apple-tini, Flutterguy, and... I got nothin'. Twilight Sparkle... I mean, seriously. I can't even work with that.”

CanonEdit

Applejack - A down to earth pony who runs an apple farm. She’s the steady, dependable one you can go to for advice. And, again, there’s the apples. The delicious, perfect apples.

Fluttershy - Nervy and quiet as...a nervy and quiet thing. She has a love for all living things, and coos over the fact he’s an adorable baby dragon, despite her phobia about ADULT dragons. Spike, of course, laps this up because, hey, attention.

Pinkie Pie - God she’s the most confusing creature to ever exist. He loves her practical jokes and her parties, and even manages to co-host with her once in a while. He doesn’t always understand what the hell she’s talking about, but most people don’t. He lives in permanent terror of her Pinkie Sense.

Princess Celestia - Ruler of Equestria and raiser of the sun. Spike is the main method of contact between Celestia and Twilight, ferrying their messages across with his weirdass dragon powers.

Rainbow Dash - Hells yes, coolest pony that ever lived. She lives on the same snarky level that Spike does, and the dragon appreciates that. Plus, she’s just THAT awesome.

Rarity - He has an epic crush on this unicorn, to the point where he’d throw himself into ridiculously dangerous situations for her sake. Of course, she’s completely unaware of this, and is probably the only pony in the entirety of the town who doesn’t know. A dragon can dream, though.

Twilight Sparkle - He’s her assistant, but he doubles up as a little brother figure/advisor in how not to be a social retard. She hatched him out of his egg, and takes care of him. He’ll mock her on a regular basis, but she’s still his Most Important Pony Ever.

ParadisaEdit

Alex – Human who shares his loss. Early morning rising sucks :/

Alexstrasza – MAMMA DRAGON. She’s really nice and seems to want to look out for him too. He’s never met a GIRL dragon before, much less a motherly one, so this is a whole new experience for him.

Coraline – A human girl around ‘his age’. He doesn’t get to hang around many other kids, let alone HUMAN kids. So this is an interesting experience for him.

Courage – A dog that’s got some kind of...nervous disposition. Needs to learn how to chill.

Deathwing – Creeepeeerrr. The other dragons tell them this guy is evil and to keep away, but Spike comes from a world where everyone can have SOME good inside them if they search hard enough. So...he’s vainly hoping that one day Deathwing will be a nice guy. Yeah, sometimes Spike is a dumbass.

Grimmy – His talking book buddy! He’s kind of a know-it all and a grump, but he’s still helpful and actually listens to Spike prattle on about nonsense for quite a fair amount of time.

Harley – The first ever human he met! She’s promised to help him talk to Rarity. This plan is doomed to fail. She’s absolutely awesome, and has taught him the best (and worst) things about humanity. He ADORES her.

Hiccup – Comes from a world where dragons don’t talk. Still, he’s best friends with Toothless, which means he has to be cool.

Jaina Proudmoore – A really nice lady. She likes the sound of Equestria, and doesn’t dismiss it as ‘crazy’ like most other people do.

Malygos – PAPPA DRAGON! He was the first other dragon Spike met who didn’t try to kill him. He adores Maly and looks up to him greatly. Best papa dragon ever, he doesn’t believe any of that crazy talk. Even if Spike thinks he could learn to enjoy himself a bit more.

Krasus – Another dragon! This guy is really nice too, and is also trying to keep him safe from Deathwing. Keasus is pretty damn cool, to boot.

The vampire also known as Spike – Shares his name, except this guy says he’s a vampire. Spike hopes he never gets eaten >>

Toothless – Dragon buddy! Toothless can’t talk, but that doesn’t stop him getting the message across if he needs to. Spike’s fascinated by a dragon who doesn’t speak, but hey, it’s another dragon who didn’t try to eat him on sight, so he’s aok.
