Room
Edit
Handy meme reference link [here]! If anyone asks why he chose plants from Deva Loka, he'll tell them the same thing he told his companions, when they left the planet: "I think paradise might be a little too green for me."
The Eleventh Doctor's TARDIS is here, too - the layout of their room now looks something like [this].
For more information on the TARDIS than you probably even need, see Five's TARDIS.
Personality
Edit
- Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts. - Charles Dickens
The Fifth Doctor keeps most of the hallmarks of his other selves: unsquashable curiosity, a sense of self-superiority over his companions and most other people, and a keen intellect. He is, however, a sort of a dark horse when seen in comparison to his other selves. At first glance, he might seem meeker, almost wimpier - he's less likely to want to force his way out of a situation than he is to try and think or negotiate his way through. He isn't as given to being random like some of his other selves (particularly the Fourth Doctor), and likes to see himself as a voice of reason. Despite this seriousness, he still considers himself young-at-heart, and keeps a sort of quiet, understated sense of humor about him.
Five's the type of person who will quietly slip a barb or a joke into the conversation so that it makes itself plain later - and then he'll feign innocence in the whole matter. He's also childish in another way - his temper. He's easily frustrated by things that don't quite turn out the way he'd like, but mostly tends to express this by sulking. If someone won't listen to his suggestions - which, to him, are the epitome of logic - he'll argue with them vehemently, until one or both of them are blue in the face, and find some way to prove himself right. If he can't? You guessed it, he sulks, and he'll generally become irritable until either something different comes along to divert his attention, or the situation changes and he's able to reassert his opinion and come out on top as the one who was right, all along.
When it comes to his companions - and, once he's gotten to know them, his other selves - the Doctor is fiercely loyal. This may not show up in orthodox ways, however. If someone he knows has to undergo some kind of ordeal in order for a larger positive change to occur, Five will basically just tell them to suck it up, and act as though he doesn't care. If they are truly in danger, however, he will do all he can to help them, sometimes at the cost of his own health (and, eventually, if the Castle sends him home, the cost of his current regeneration). If anyone attempts to thank him for this sort of thing, he just displays his own odd, backwards brand of modesty: "What, that? Oh, don't mention it, it wasn't really anything at all. Well. Not for someone as marvellous as I am, I suppose. ... Weren't you supposed to be doing something?"
The Fifth Doctor is also somewhat more sensitive than the others - the mun's speculation is that this is due to his regeneration going slightly awry at the start of his series. As such, he's more affected by changes to the fabric of time around him (see The Five Doctors, when the abduction of each of his former selves causes him immense pain). He's marginally able to sense when the Castle is about to change itself profoundly - but he can't tell why. It just causes him a mild, brief amount of physical pain ... and after that passes, he'll constantly feel as though something is "off" until the change occurs.
Losses
Edit
Permanent
Edit
- Memories of how his previous regeneration 'died'
- Severe vertigo at heights above 30 feet
Temporary
Edit
- During the Tanabata Festival, he became convinced he was his Sixth self for a day.
- He and Eleven became Castle Mythbusters, testing various castle myths.
- A loss where any bad pun he made - and there were a lot of them - was accompanied by this sound.

People Who've Gone Home
Edit
- Veralidaine Sarrasri -- Five knew Daine briefly, and apparently in a past trip to Para, as well. She accompanied him on the trip out to the Pillar Fields, and helped arrange for everyone to bring horses along.
- Abigail Sciuto -- He chatted with her when they arrived at about the same time. She seemed like a very cheerful, curious, and altogether fantastic human being - he's a little sad that he didn't get to know her more before she went home.
- Perpugilliam (Peri) Brown -- They had a bit of a bumpy ride while his American companion was about, but Five's more worried that he didn't see her for months before her nameplate disappeared.
- Kratos Aurion -- Someone who knew Five on one of his previous trips to the Castle. They didn't see each other often, but their bond still remained, somehow. Five was fond of him, and respected him.
- Excella Gionne -- Let her take refuge in the TARDIS briefly when Albert Wesker arrived.
- Jack Hodgins -- Tried to help him fix the TARDIS while it was being used as a refuge during the Cabot plot.
- Simon Tam -- River's brother. He only knows him in passing, from when they were trapped inside the TARDIS during Halloween.
- Albus Dumbledore -- One of Five's good acquaintances in Paradisa ... he can't say he knows him as well as he likes, but he's always a pleasant enough fellow to talk to.
- Luke fon Fabre -- They got to know each other during the Wild West plot.
- Raine Sage -- Fellow adventurer, explorer, and all-around pleasantly nosy person! Five thinks she's marvellous, and together they organized a trip out to the Pillar Fields that ended in their finding a way to lower the first magic barrier.
- Rikku -- She came to him with a sphere to duplicate during the memory loss, and that sparked off discussion of worlds, and such. Now the two are partners in something that can only be described as rampant curiosity.
- The Third & Ninth Doctors -- Three was from an alternate dimension that resulted in, somehow, a change to the feminine. He wasn't quite sure what to make of that, but it didn't make her any less a Doctor, or any less marvelous. He didn't speak with Nine very often, and they seemed contrariwise to one another for reasons he's perfectly willing to forget, should he show up again.
Acquaintances
Edit
- Chie Satonaka -- Stayed in the TARDIS during the Cabot plot, with the rest of her team ... and ended up dying anyway. She shouldn't have left the old girl ...
- Yuan -- Another friend from a previous visit, Five counts him among his valued friends in much the same way as Kratos.
- Luke fon Fabre -- They got to know each other during the Wild West plot.
- Felix Harrowgate -- Another magician that Five's very interested in getting to know. The young man's starting up a club of magic scholars, with the same goal of learning Paradisa's secrets and limits.
- Kaylee Frye -- A mechanic whose interest in the TARDIS - and enthusiasm in all things - are entirely welcome.
Companions
Edit
- York and Delta -- These two proved invaluable from the beginning, helping to defend the TARDIS during the Cabot plot ... and that grew into the two of them staying in the TARDIS when things got rough for York. Five and York have become fast friends, and Delta denies having any sort of crush on the TARDIS whatsoever. We're on to you, D.
- Anthony J. Crowley -- Whether either of them like it or not, Crowley's a companion. It's a strange sort of relationship the two have. Crowley knows Five better than the Time Lord would like to admit, and so they tend to bicker at each other more than anything else.
- Jilly Coppercorn -- Oh, Jilly. What to say about Jilly? She reminds him so very much of so many companions he's had before, and seems to possess what he's always counted the best qualities among humans: a kind heart, an unbreakable spirit, and an undying hope that things will turn out for the best in the end.
- Rose Tyler, Amy Pond, and Rory Williams -- Once a companion, always a companion...
Other Selves!
Edit
- The Doctor -- His third incarnation, and the latest to arrive ... oddly enough, she's come from an alternate timeline ... yes, SHE. He's still not sure quite what the story behind that is.
- Tenth Doctor -- Ohhh, he's met this one before. It's a bit fun bothering him, really, and so far they seem to enjoy a fine balance between mutual annoyance and amusement.
- Eleventh Doctor -- The latest, it seems. Five likes him well enough, even if he thinks he's beginning to get a bit ridiculous in his old age. Bow ties and fezzes? REALLY?
