The People Beyond

Contents

Introduction Edit

Also known as: the "other" people, the "Mover" people, and the "hostiles"/"non-hostiles."

It's been suggested that up until Year 3 of the current generation, the free people lived in one major camp. Supposedly, a rift was created in the camp, and a faction of them disbanded and formed their own group elsewhere, much closer to the castle. Their division into two camps, dubbed the "hostiles" and "non-hostiles", seems to coincide with the appearance and subsequent disappearance of Reno Browne in Paradisa.

The Non-Hostiles Edit

Little is known about these people in the World Beyond. For the most part, it's believed that they want little to do with the castle or its residents, as they keep well out of the area and seem to avoid contact with the residents.

As the larger group, they have a much bigger encampment, yet they are said to be much more mobile than the hostile group. While traveling in the distance, a resident discovered gigantic tread tracks, like those found on a tank. The tracks were thirty feet wide each and extremely deep, and they stretched on and on, suggesting that whatever made them is enormous. This may be the mysterious "Mover" referred to by Doctor Fog.

Residents have found messages left behind in post offices in Mayfield, Fairview, and Paradisa Town. It is unknown whether this is a coincidence or an actual pattern.

It's been suggested that they all have journals, but they simply choose not to use them.

John Hammond Edit

An elderly man who once attempted to open a dinosaur theme park. While the residents' encounter with him would suggest he is naive, ignorant, and more than just a little dinosaur-crazy, he seems to be the leader of the people beyond Paradisa's borders –– people who have apparently started locking up their own. There may be more to this one than meets the eye.

Reno Browne Edit

See Miss Reno Browne.

Currently, communication seems to have dropped off. Where she is or what she's doing, no one's sure of.

Was recorded on a CD found in the Lost Room.

"Hancock" Edit

Overheard in the background with a conversation with Reno Browne. Brash and vulgar, Hancock doesn't seem particularly fond of the residents, and is very distrustful about them.

A photograph with a note scrawled from him was found in the Animal Village on an expedition.

Dr. Ian Malcolm Edit

Originally seen in Jurassic Park, Dr. Malcolm was thought to be another entity created by the castle until he interrupted a conversation between Reno Browne and Freelancer York. He also spoke with Raine after she managed to flip the Dead Zone around. Nothing has been heard from him since.

Children Edit

A bunch of children were overheard in the background when Reno Browne spoke with the castle around New Years of Year 4. When asked about the children brought to the castle once a year, Reno confirmed that they have children on-board, though they aren't the same children as the ones the residents had.

Whip Wilson Edit

Boyfriend of Reno Browne. Deceased.

The Hostiles Edit

The Hostiles have been a near constant headache to the castle residents. They've claimed the Dead Zone surrounding Paradisa as "their" territory, and they have been brutally enforcing it with death threats. As they have a measure of mechanical power behind them that the residents lack, they have remained mostly uncontested.

"Ironette" Edit

The leader of this group has been identified as a woman, and her suit has been modified to fit her better, suggesting they have some very competent mechanics in the group. Little is known about this woman, though nomads in the Dead Zone have been passing around rumours that she's an "idiot," though well-liked by her compatriots. Apparently, she also has an affinity for alcohol.

It's been suggested that she is in power because she was the one to capture the suits. Given that the hostiles were barely on the residents' radars before the suits were stolen, there seems to be credence to this theory.

"The Iron Men" Edit

In L.A., four prototype suits were stolen from Tony Stark's facilities, and one resurfaced just in time to save some residents on an expedition from a malign being. Curiously, the suits work in the Dead Zone; this may be due to the modifications done to it, made apparent by the blue glow on the back of the suits.

Ironette wears one. It's been suggested that the others have been rotating out, but one is definitely a very large man.

Damsel Edit

Stephanie Brown and Asano Rin encountered Damsel while lost in the swamps of Eldritch. A practically-dressed woman in her mid thirties, Damsel is apparently allied with the Hostiles. She doesn't seem particularly fond of being questioned, and she takes a dutiful role in handling residents. A former superhero, she apparently gains powers while outside the Dead Zone.

Neutrals Edit

Some of the people in the Dead Zone are allied with neither group.

Zexion Edit

A former resident of the castle, Zexion chose to venture into the World Beyond, faking his own disappearance from Paradisa. He is the first known resident to be granted free passage in the Dead Zone. According to him, he must travel alone for five years to prove his disconnect from the castle, and then he may be welcomed into one of the factions. He spends a good deal of time at Mineas Well to collect information from other nomads.

He is one of few sources of information from the outside thus far, though there's credibility in believing he's just making sure he has a hand in everything.

Flora Edit

An elderly woman bound to the magic tree at Mineas Well, and the surveyor and protector of the dead zone's only "neutral" area. Her loss is the ability to tell secrets, meaning much of her great knowledge about the world beyond has been cut away from the residents.

Goldfleck Edit

A talking cat with ginger-white fur. Goldfleck is a simple soul, innocent and well-intended. He works for Flora as her assistant, running errands and taking care of her guests.

Lente Edit

Little is known about this one. Described as uncomfortable and skittish by Zexion, she apparently refuses to be alone in the presence of strangers, though she passes through Mineas Well on occasion. She has a permanent dwelling south of the castle, currently unexplored.

Former Residents Edit

Roy Harper Edit

A young man who was being held captive by Doctor Fog. He was rescued by the residents, and it was discovered that he had memories of Paradisa, and had apparently been there before, but had no memories of what he had been doing otherwise for the past years. Confirmed to be a friend of Reno Browne's. Was recorded on a CD found in the Lost Room.

For more information, see Roy 'Arsenal' Harper.

Unknown Edit

It's been suggested a number of times that the people beyond could be watching the residents through the journals, but with the constant coming and going of residents, it could be easy to pass off as a new resident...

Eldritch Edit

A swamp to the West of Paradisa is the home of a colony of spider-people called the Arachne. The residents were summoned there in the summer of year 4 to save them from the "metal monsters."

The Queen / "Charlotte" Edit

The supposed Queen of the Arachne, now deceased. A large half-woman, half-spider creature. She claimed to be seeking aid from the residents, but when they arrived, she turned and attempted to kill them. Joy stepped in and killed her, then showed the residents the body of the real queen. Joy assumed the throne, though somewhat suspiciously, and the residents left feeling their questions hadn't been answered at all.

Joy Edit

While she originally came to Paradisa in the form of a small barn spider, seeking aid for her people, Joy turned out to be one of the half-woman, half-spider Arachne as well. Some time after accompanying the residents to Eldritch to save their people, she reappeared at Paradisa during a summer festival, in the form of a human girl. Her encounter with the residents was brief, however: she was shot and killed by one of the rogue Ironman suits.

The Boar / "Wilbur" Edit

A strange talking re-animated corpse of a boar, seemingly controlled by the spiders. It was brought down by some of the residents.

Neville and Arianna Edit

Joy's younger twin siblings. Killed in combat alongside the Queen.

The Slyph Edit

A creature seen following the boats on the way out. Bizarrely, only the children could see it.

Unknowns Edit

"Doctor Fog" Edit

A strange being encountered on an expedition, apparently a doctor, albeit one with very archaic methods. He was bird-like in appearance, and had a great prejudice against redheads. When engaged in combat, he became engorged for unknown reasons, until he was terminated by the unknown Iron Man.

The Giraffes Edit

Damsel mentioned a group of giraffes she liked. Nothing else is known.
