History
Edit
Coraline:She's got this whole world where everything's better. The food, the garden, the neighbors. But it's all a trap.
Wybie: Yeah, I think I heard someone calling me, Jonesy...
Coraline: Don't believe me? You can ask the cat!
Wybie is being raised by his grandmother, the landlady of the Pink Palace, where she refuses to let him go, due to losing her twin sister in there when she was a child. Wybie does as his grandmother asks him, instead deciding to patrol the woods nearby on his motorised bike, and wearing a binocular-mask, both of which he made himself.
It’s on one of these patrols that he meets Coraline, newly arrived in the house. He’s surprised she’s there, due to his grandmother not letting out the apartments to people with kids. He manages to thoroughly annoy her, calling her Caroline and prompting his nickname “why-were-you-born”. Later on, he finds a doll in his grandmothers chest which looks just like Coraline, sending it to her. This doll ends up being a spy for the Beldam. Well done, Wybie. Well done.
When Coraline tells him about the Other World, he at first refuses to believe her, going as far as calling her crazy and getting a shoe thrown at him for his trouble. It wasn’t until he found a picture of his great aunt, who fitted Coraline’s description of one of the ghost children in the Other World perfectly, that he believed her. He found her in the woods in time to pull the Beldam’s hand off her, falling into the old well in the process. It’s at this point he is pulled into Paradisa.
Personality
Edit

Wybie is a very lonely boy, who doesn’t seem to have very many friends, if any. He has a terrible posture, and his shyness is apparent whenever he interacts with anyone. Once a potential friend comes along, he blathers on endlessly to them. This was so much the case that his parallel version in the Other World is completely mute, to appease Coraline. It’s almost as if the real Wybie is so used to people not showing an interest in him, that when someone does, he tries far too hard to gain their friendship. As a result, he often comes off as a bit of a dork.
When he’s not being incredibly irritating, however, he’s a very smart kid. He’s good at making things, such as his battery-powered bicycle and his turreted-binocular mask. He has moments where he randomly blurts out something pretty clever for an eleven year old, such as; ‘It's not real scientific, but I heard an ordinary name like Caroline can lead people to have ordinary expectations about a person’, before he carries on as if the smart remark never happened.
The Other Wybie
Edit
Like most of the people in Coraline’s life, Wybie has a double in the Other World. The Beldam created the Other Wybie to be a friend for Coraline in an attempt to make her want to stay. She removed his ability to speak, thinking it would make Coraline like him more. The Other Wybie stood up straight, listened to Coraline’s every word and doted on her.
The Beldam stitched a smile on his face, when he refused to keep up a happy pretence, knowing Coraline’s fate. He rescued Coraline from the mirror-prison, helping her back to the portal to her home world. He was killed by the Beldam for his actions, and his remains were hung from the Pink Palace like a flag for Coraline to find. The real Wybie knows he had a double, and now knows his fate.

Extra Things
Edit
- In Paradisa, he has re-made his battery powered bicycle (see picture) and no, he doesn’t wear a helmet when he rides it.
- He now knows all of what happened to Coraline in the Other World.
- He once owned two alligators, which he eventually released into Paradisa’s duck pond.
- During the High School world change, he was infected by one of the parasitic aliens, and spent most of the time mentally torturing Coraline. He won’t be getting over this for a long time.
- He has two pictures in his room, one is the picture of his grandmother and great aunt as kids, which he had in his pocket when he arrived, and the other is a picture of his grandmother as an adult which he gained from the memory plot..
Relationships
Edit

Canon
Edit
- Coraline - Aka “Jonesy” or “Caroline”. He almost never calls her by her actual name. Coraline is his best friend, despite the fact he can’t resist irritating the crap out of her. He tends to tune out when she talks to him. He’d still do anything for her, though, and has no problem risking his own life to protect her.
- The Cat - Wybie swears the cat is a “wild, feral stray”, despite the fact he feeds him and carries him around in the fog so his feet don’t get wet. He’s arrived now, from the world in which Wybie doesn’t exist. Wybie just assumes he’s the cat’s loss.
- The Other Mother - He never met her personally until she arrived in Paradisa. She ate his great-aunt’s life, then tried to do the same to Coraline. No love, Beldam, no love.
- Gramma - His guardian. He dotes on her and always goes to her when she calls him. There has been no mention about what happened to his parents.
Paradisa
Edit
- Charlie – A really close friend of Inkblot’s? He seemed very sad when the guy left.
- Cubie - A Cube that talks through the journal. Wybie gave it a name and is trying to teach it the way the world runs. This can’t end well.
- Deadpool – Such a cool guy. Helped him catch alligator eggs.
- Edward – Weird girl he met in L.A. She’s really weird.
- Evangeline - Wybie’s learned an important lesson from her. Don’t antagonise vampires. He’s still a little pain in the ass to her, though.
- Gold – A pokemon trainer. Boy, is HIS world weird.
- Jilly – A nice lady. Gave him a robot she found to work on. He’s come to rely on her a lot more as someone to go to when he needs an adult.
- Ken – Ken’s sensible attitude has probably saved Wybie from going through with about 70% of the stupid ideas he has. Good thing he listens to him.
- Luna – One of his roomies during the High School world change.
- Princey – One of his roomies during the High School world change. Wybie enjoys trolling him.
- Tony - A real life inventor! Wybie thinks he’s ten kinds of awesome and wants to grow up to be just like him.
- Ragna – Angry guy. Needs to chill out.
- Raine - Made sure he went to school and taught him during the wild west plot. Despite this bad start, she IS smart and knows where to find good mechanics books in the library.
- Subaru - A friend of Coraline’s who has an equal dislike of the Other Mother.
- Yukiko – She looks out for him a lot, even if she is bossy.
- Tao – Crazy cat girl. He knows it won’t be long before she’s sneaking onto his bed again.
