PersonalityEdit

Xena is rough, abrasive, and aggressive. In conversation she tends to be rather stoic, answering only what suits her. In combat she is ruthless, though honorable. She will gladly accept surrenders and has been known to show mercy to those who ask for it, but unlike her former enemy/friend/sometimes love interest, Hercules, she won’t hesitate to kill a foe.

She is fairly intelligent, but her range of knowledge is rather limited. She is very good at planning battles, figuring out strategies, and seeing through other people’s traps. She also has a fairly extensive knowledge of battlefield medicine. But outside of combat, she’s not terribly knowledgeable. She’s not very well read. She can’t play any instruments. She’s not the type to be into philosophy. Actually, she’s probably not really great to talk to about anything besides battles, traveling or the gods. It’s not that she’s too stupid to pick anything else up, it’s just that most of her life has been spent in combat. It’s pretty much all she knows.

Despite her rough exterior, Xena genuinely cares about people. Although she probably wouldn’t admit it, she will go pretty far out of her way to help almost anyone who needed her protection. She’s made a habit of rescuing villages from vicious warlords, preventing wars, helping out the gods, and even rescuing babies on occasion. In addition to battling for the greater good, Xena has also been known to help tend to the injured. Her many years of fighting have given her a very good understanding of battlefield injuries and, although her treatments are often very painful and somewhat brutal, they are most effective.

People tend to react to her in a variety of ways. In some places, she is greeted as a hero because of her recent exploits. People have been known to seek out her aid in times of trouble. On the other hand, Xena is equally used to being greeted with suspicion, anger, and hostility, especially by her former victims. She is either seen as a savior or a villain. Xena sees herself as neither, although she acknowledges what she once was. She sees herself primarily as an atoner. She isn’t helping people for the glory or because she is some sort of do-gooder, but because she owes it to them. However similar their actions may seem, she will never see herself as a hero, in the sense that Hercules is and in the sense that Gabrielle thinks she is.

• Gabrielle: BFF/Girlfriend/Traveling companion. At first their relationship was rather one sided hero-worship, but.. Gabrielle grows on you. She's one of the few people who Xena can always rely on and through her Xena learned a great deal about friendship and trust. Too bad she doesn't remember any of that.
• Hercules: Friend/Ally/Occasional make-out partner. Their relationship started out kind of rocky. By which I mean Xena tried to kill him by seducing his best friend and turning them against each other. But he helped her to see the error of her ways and they've been pretty tight ever since. There's some chemistry there, but given both of their lifestyles? That's never gonna happen.
• Iolaus: Hercules' BFF. She seduced him in order to get to Herc and was going to have them fight to the death. Oops? Despite this, they seem to get along pretty well now. No hard feelings.
• Ares: God of War/Pain in the ass. She used to be a big fan. Now not so much. Especially since he keeps trying to convince her to go back to her old ways. Still, he's a sexy man.
• Petracles: Ex-fiance. She figured out that he lost interest as soon as he had "won" her and she left him. They later reunited for a brief adventure. Then he died.
• Solan: Xena's son. She gave him up shortly after he was born and hasn't seen him since.
• Borias: Solan's father. He's dead too.
• Callisto: The only survivor of a raid Xena's army did on a certain village. The women and children were hiding in their thatched houses, someone was a jerk and/or careless with fire and it all went up in smoke. Callisto swore revenge and has already attempted to kill Xena once. Xena has mixed feelings about this. Obviously she realizes that Callisto is absolutely insane and needs to be stopped, but at the same time she feels terribly guilty about the whole thing and would rather not kill the woman if she doesn't have to. It's complicated...
