- Born in a spaceship, never really had a hometown
- When the war broke out between the rebels and the Alliance, she joined the rebels and met Mal
- Served under Mal throughout the war
- Battle of Serenity Valley, she was the only person to survive in Mal's unit
- After the war, she stuck with Mal and they got a spaceship together
- Rather he got the spaceship and she thought it was a piece of crap, but he convinced her to come along
- They hired Wash as their pilot, who bothered Zoe
- But she eventually hooked up with Wash and married him, directly disobeying Mal's order not to do so.
- Been serving on Serenity as the second in command ever since.
Personality
Edit
Zoe is a pure soldier. Tough as nails and forever calm in a crisis, she is one that you can always count on in a job. In contrast to Mal, Jayne and the rest of the crew - she rarely lets her emotions control her actions and rather acts on her logic, making her a huge asset to any mission and as second in command of Serenity. To people that don't know her very well (and a few that do), this can make her seem at times intimidating and cold. That isn't to say that she is without emotions of her own, she just has a very good handle on controlling them and not allowing to get the better of her. If anything, she rather reply to things with a witty or clever remark. Only when she is absolutely surprised is she lost for a come back or for something to say.
When talking about herself, Zoe can be a rather private person. She doesn't go out of the way to hide her past or her current life, but if she doesn't see it as any of your business she won't be too eager to share it with you if you start asking question. If she does decide to answer your questions, her stories will not withhold gory details and they will be told rather calmly with only the slightest touch of emotion - the war effected her in a lot of ways but she does not let it own her.
Her loyalty, if earned, is possibly one of her strongest qualities. After serving in the war with Malcolm Reynolds, her loyalty to him never wavers. She doesn't follow him blindly and there are orders of his that she will disobey (such as the order not to marry her husband) and she certainly has a good idea of what he is capable and not capable of, there is no false image when it comes to him nor the rest of the crew. She's not very vocal about her loyalty towards people unless directly asked, but it becomes easy to notice when you have earned it.
However, even though Zoe is what you can consider, with no other term fitting, a badass - she has no trouble getting in touch with her own emotions. She is in a very loving relationship with her husband Wash, and maintains friendships with the rest of the crew. She smiles easily, and laughter is not a rarity for her - and on the opposite end of the spectrum she's got her own temper that sometimes shows through. On top of this she has no trouble with her femininity either, maybe she can play as rough as guys but she does not fall into the trap of being so tough that she can't enjoy a nice slinky dress or interacting with other girls. She's a warrior woman that has managed to include both words in a very fitting mesh.
Random Facts
Edit

Added by Yuff
- When she eats fruit, she will always slice it up with a knife. There's a funny story involving rib cages and grenades with that one.
- Has lots of war stories. Most of them pretty gruesome.
- She will always refer to Mal as "sir", even when mocking him (which is a not small part of the time). It's a weird army thing.
- In the future the US and China merged, so that explains the random Chinese that's spoken by her and the crew.
- Pure hate for the Alliance from this one.
- Uses lots and lots of dry humor. Its her way.
- She doesn't have a homeworld or hometown. She was born on a ship.
- Unlike Mal it's said she was career military, so she thinks more with her head in a situation while he...is an emotional little thing B)
- Has a slight bad habit of when she disagrees with someone she loves, she'll let Mal shoot down the idea for her instead of doing it herself. But she's working on that really. >_>

Relationships
Edit
Firefly
Edit

Added by Yuff- Inara Serra: The Companion that lives in a shuttle on their ship. Zoe is pretty okay with her.
- Hoban 'Wash' Washburne: Her husband and love of her life. When they first met she was bothered by him (could have been related to the mustache he had back then), but grew to love him and eventually married him. There is no question to how much she loves him and in a lot of ways he is what keeps her grounded.
- Malcolm Reynolds: The Captain, partner and best friend outside of Wash. She served under him through the war and afterward continued following him. She always refers to him as sir but at the same time their relationship is definitely more of a close friendship than anything else. He would try to fuck up your shit if you messed with her, but chances are she'd have already done it herself.
- River Tam: A mentally disturbed girl who is wanted by the Alliance. She's a bit fond of River but at the same time can make her uneasy. You never sure if the girl is going to rub soup in her hair or get her hands on a weapon. Seems to be a reader.
- Simon Tam: River's brother and the doctor of the ship. A bit of a naive Core planet sissy, but he's a good doctor. She's slowly growing more fond of him.
- Kaylee Frye: The mechanic of Serenity. She's the little sister of the crew, easy. When Mal says something offensive to her, Zoe will take her side. Oh and mess with her and Zoe will mess you up.
- Jayne Cobb: He's...Jayne. Good muscle and handy in a fight, but...really stupid. She often makes cracks about him at his expense and gets away with it.
- Shepherd Book: The Preacher that they picked up. He's a friendly guy and Zoe gets along well with him -- though he sure knows a lot of things that is questionable for a Preacher to know.
Paradisa
Edit
- Abel Nightroad: A priest with a tendency to write horrible fanfiction. She finds it hilarious.
- Albus Dumbledore: BRO! They had a horribly awkward first meeting (he teleported into her room) but they became good friends after that. He came back and remembers her, so she is happy about that!
- Anthony J. Crowley: First time she met him he was trying to burn down the TARDIS full of innocent people during the Berserk week. Not a fan.
- Clark Kent: THREW A DOOR INTO ORBIT. He's an odd one, and even without the superpowers bit.
- Faye Valentine: Another person who is used to space ships yay! She seems to have a good head on her shoulders, and Zoe is getting pretty fond of her. Except after the Berserk plot, this relationship is strained. Especially since Faye has yet to really confront or own up to her.
- Freelancer York/Delta: First non-crew member Zoe talked to in Paradisa. Slightly got off the wrong foot because she thought he was Alliance, but that got cleared up. He knows another person named Wash, and was the one that gave Zoe the tidbit that her Wash had a dinosaur pet. Seems alright for a mercenary.Has an AI friend named Delta.
- Nudge: Adorable girl that she looks after sometimes. Can be prone to getting into troubel!
- Oliver Queen: Owner of the shooting range that she works at, he seems to be of good folk.
- Spike Spiegel: He was a maybe friend of Kaylee? But she's grown used tohaving him around...even if she likes to tease him all the time.
- Takamura Uru: A girl that works at a coffee shop where she dresses up like a maid. Tried to convince Zoe to work there...haha no.
